Case 1

Case 2

But that's just me.

I concur. It reminds me of those awful mega monster toy looking stereos from JVC. I prefer a Nice Lian-Li case myself. Simple yet elegant.

I personally like the Thermaltake cases... I have this one and have had great success with it. It's the all aluminum version of the case you were looking at (in silver also, obviously) and didn't come with a psu, but that's great for me because I already had an Anted TruePower 430w psu. It's a HUGE case, so make sure you keep that in mind... very tall and very deep, but I really liked it. The fans that come with these cases royally suck, so make sure you replace at least a few of them with something decent (I held the edge of a piece of paper directly over the exhaust fan at the top of the case and the paper didn't even budge...). I don't need the many HD bays and other bays that it has (I have 2 HDs, 3 optical drives, and a floppy drive), but I like the expandability and extra room for modding if I decide I wanna do something later on.

I really do recommend this case to you if you like the design with the window and all, because I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

The reason I went with the aluminum version is because I move mine around a lot (to and from college and to lan parties), and the aluminum version is MUCH lighter than the steel version (I beleive the one you are looking at weighs roughly 50 lbs. empty) and isn't something you would want to be moving very often. If it's staying in one spot, go for it. If it's gonna be ported around, then think about getting a case like mine and getting a power supply separately or look at getting the strap for carrying the case (linky), as it's definitely a worthwhile investment.

Finally, if you plan on lighting up the inside with some cold cathodes, I figured I'd show you what it would look like with the proper wire management and lighting. 😀

Still on my to do list.

Hope that helps!

Also, if you decide that case is too much for you, I'm building my friend a computer this week and got THIS case for him.

He loves transformers and I thought the case looked toit... It also has a 400w psu that comes with the case. If you like transformers or like that design I would recommend it as well.

I think its a matter of preference. I don't personally like the looks of those kinds of cases, but I have seen them at stores before and they seem to be well built. I think if the look is one that you are going for you'll probably be happy with it.

They are very well built. Very strong and very sturdy cases. You can feel how sturdy it is just by opening up the door up front. Sounds weird, but it's true....

I have no respect for pre-mod cases.

Go to Home Depot to get the materials and do it yourself, at least your case will be unique and not look the same as a million other n00bs.

build the whole case by by yourself?! either way, i still would like my case to be professionally made, since i want it to last a while....i wouldn't trust myself..lol....😀

Nice to see you have the time. For the rest of us that have a lot of other things we need to do (not to mention lack of carpentry skills 😛), these cases are our only option. Keep that in mind when you call us all n00bs smart@$$.

For the features it has, it is a pretty decent price. I wouldn't spend that much on a case if I were you, but I can understand the appeal. The thought has crossed my mind. I have always liked the Thermaltake Xaser cases. The PSU that it comes with is excellent as a bonus.

The Thermaltake Xaser III is a very nice case with a lot of well thought out features. Just don't try to lug it to LAN parties as it's pretty heavy. I have one in my garage right now that I've modded with a Koolance water-cooling system. To each his own, I say.

To me, the $$$ Lian-Li look like every other aluminum case on the market.

The Thermaltake has the top-mounted audio/usb, the swing-out card fans, case temperature monitoring, remote temperature probe, 7 low noise case fans, etc...

If you like it, buy it. Don't worry about what other people think of it.

SgtZulu - You're still around? I assumed your mouth would've gotten you booted LONG before now.

I'm partial to the AMS gTower's myself. 1/3" acrylic bezel, 120mm exhaust, silver anti-scratch coating, breakway front panel wiring, and large side window.

$130 for the case and no PSU, throw in a nice Enlight dual fan 420W for about $35 and your good to go.

🙂

Those are nice cases, but personally anyway, they are a bit too big, and everyone and their brother has one. They have always been poplular, but that design is getting a bit long in the tooth so to speak.

IMO of course. Choosing a case should really involve choosing one that looks good to you anyhow, since none of us will have to look at it everyday like you. 😉

WOW  That second case looks awesome!

Edit: WOW again, the price is a :brokenheart: 300 bucks.

personally i think the x alien http://www.overclockercafe.com/Reviews/cases/X-Alien/ type cases or chieftec 602 http://www.virtual-hideout.net/reviews/3dcool_chenming_602/index.shtml are better http://www.tweaktown.com/document.php?dType=review&dId=651

the xasers are alright, but they tend to go for more mod looks over functionality. i like the other antec/chieftec/chenming clones that don't give up cooling for looks/functionality. the xasers are also heavy as hell. the doors are solid metal on some, and well i guess thats good sound muffling too. the rest of the case seems thicker? course that might be good for sound deadening though, less vibration. its your choice really.

the xaliens/602's are well engineered, easy to work inside and have little touches of convenience.

I've been looking at all of the other cases that have been recommended and can definitely agree. It all comes down to personal opinion. Like I said before I have the V2000a Xaser III and I love the design, but I can't stand the others people have been recommending. They just aren't my style. To each his own, eh? 😀

A friend of mine has a Xaser case, thos things are even uglier in real life than in pictures.
Go have a look at one yourself before you decide to buy it.

i'd go w/ the cooler masters too.

the thermaltakes are too flashy and tacky looking...any premodded case is, really.
