As I continue to scrutinize my diet, I am looking for the best way to measure out meat portions. I have looked around and find comparision but is there anything better than just getting a scale? Like maybe 1/2 cup 1 cup kind of thing since I have plenty of those laying around the house. I figure if I have good measurements to begin with, learning the size over time will be easy. I am just really wanting to get this almost down to a science.

For me, just using a smaller plate is the best portion size controller. I fill my small plate and, when that's full, I'm done. I'm a smaller guy so this works for me, even though I'm not trying to lose weight, but I think it's a good habit to get into. I didn't exercise for nearly a year due to injuries, but didn't gain any weight whatsoever because I kept my diet clean and my portion sizes in control.

I use a food scale I got at bed bath & beyond, I doubt there's any better way than a scale if you want exact portion sizes. I just made a PB sandwich and used it to get exactly 32g of PB. Good for portion control and you get an added bonus of getting a full amount of servings out of something. Left to eyeball my amounts I'm sure I'd go over enough to cut a 10 serving container to 7 or something.

I think I might just have to get a scale than. My biggest problem is that I pack and bring a lunch almost everyday for lunch and I am never sure how much that I am bringing. So I figure once I learn the right sizes I can start using better containers to help me keep the right portions.

I got a digital scale from amazon for 25 bucks and it works great. you can convert from grams, oz, to lbs. and it can tare, so you can zero the weight of the plate.

Bought a scale today and holy crap! My portions were a bit to big. With this and proper calorie tracking I know I have going to see some good results in the next few months.

I always use a measuring cup for my portions. And decent size bowls are great once you get the hang of it. As for salads, there is no limit (Which is great imo)

I highly recommend using a scale for a while just so you get an idea of what actual serving sizes look like as per the labels. It's amazing how often how you realize you actually ate twice the amount of calories you thought was a serving.
