Is there a way to make it stop reading all the id3 tags or whatever when I open a ton of mp3s? In winamp, you could open like 3,000 mp3s and it wouldn't even flinch because it would read the id3 tags when it actually played the songs. But Foobar2k seems to want to read all the tags when they are added.

So far Foobar hasn't been so bad, I miss windowshade mode of winamp and foobar is freaking ugly, but it is nice that it is such a small program.

Don't know about the ID3 tags, but if you want to make foobar prettier look into using Columns UI for it. It allows you completely customize the display of foobar :)

you prolly have the database turned on. Foobar reads the tags once and writes it to the database.

I have the DB turned on in mine and whenever I open foobar, or I clear my playlist and add the files again it's pretty much instant.
