Fonts - are any of them free or are they all expensive

Are there a lot of free ones available?
Are they often pirated?

Kind of OT, but this is a nice font.

I don't know if it's changed, but a couple years ago when I was into web design there were plenty of free front sites. They all had huge listings, and to download you just clicked on the sample image. I don't see why they would have all disappeared, but if designsbymark.com still has a huge forum like it did back then, ask people there and I'm sure they would know some resources.
