Fong Kai (FKI) FK320

only heard good things about it, but i haven't used one myself. it's too damn expensive when compared to the enlight 7237. anand even recommends it in his buyer's guide.
 
It's an awesome case, get it in the black, it is SOO sleek. This is the only case I built my machines in.

For the color, shape, size, and quality, it is worth it! It comes with a CPU-fan-duct which is usually a $20-30 add-on, and a 300watt power supply that is usually $40 alone. Looking at it from this perspective, you see that is it a REALLY good deal.

Again, the black version is SLICK. Again -- it's the only case I suggest to people, and the only case I built machines for people (besides the Rackmount Cases for the DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) and servers.

 
Great case for subtle cooling.

You get a good 120mm fan in front and it takes care of the rest. The CPU shroud does wonders on CPU temperatures. EXCELLENT air flow...

Its roomy inside, and quite sleek. I like mine quite a bit...
 
The only issue I have with it, is the stock fan on the CPU-vent is loud. I replace that with a Panaflo or unplug it.

NO MANUAL!!

Seriously, nothing at all, no paper or nothing...at least I didn't get anything.
I bought from directron.com ( Took FOREVER to ship ). Anybody else had the same experience?
Maybe I was just one of the few who didn't get one...although an email to fong kai stated that they didn't make manuals for this model at all.
 
How does this case compare with PA-810, which happens to be the case used to demo AMD's prototype dual TB machine (incredible thermal dissipation) at comdex?

I'd much appreciate it if anyone can give me a link to a PA-810 review.
 
Good point sub, but I am a newbie, and I just built my first computer. Having a manual for everything is CRUCIAL to me cause there might be something I might have missed. Either way, it doesn't hurt and I think every computer part should come with a manual.
 
I have the black one. Cost extra, but I had the problem of trying to fine a black cover dvd player and floppy drives.. so it looks a little off right now with the beige drives.. but oh well... Also my Case is Loud... I have the front fan and CPU duct fan and PS Fan, so one of them is very loud...
 
I have this case, I also bought it fron Directron. It shipped in the amount of days they said. I think it was seven. I don't mind the fan noise, at least I know they're working. It's hard to tell which is louder the power supply or duct. I also have an 90mm fan in front. Cooool case! 😎
 
With the air duct... I take it you can't use one of them Orb coolers on it? Probably won't fit am I correct... and besides, the fan isn't mounted on the CPU anymore, it's on the case right?

I was thinkign about the black case, but none of my drives have black cases, so I figure the beige would fit better...
 
I have the beige one an love it. I also got mine from Directron with no trouble at all.Im running a duron 600@927 with a fop38-1 running at 93 f.

I use orbs exclusively (quiet, and cheap), but will probably switch to the Agilent ArtiCooler once they become more widespread and cheaper.

It fits perfectly inside the duct. I still suggest you change out the stock duct-fan for a panaflo, for lower noise.

My F-K 320 has plenty of room under the fan duct for the Abit KT7-R
and the GlobalWin FOP-32-1/38-1 hsf.
I have the beige version and really like it, very high quality case and was obviously designed with cooling in mind.
I don't have to make my own fan ducts and mod the case, it's all ready to go..................noise? Not when my Pioneer slot-load is cranked up with a good "Little River Band" or "Corey Heart" cd!!! (sorry, couldn't help myself)
 
Thanks clum...I found out the other day when I got it. Whoa, it's way bigger than I had anticipated. I don't know about the noise ( yet ) but don't worry about it; this is a kick ass case!!
 
Nice, glad you like it! Can you see why I use them exclusively now? Awesome cooling, great 300watt stock power supply and sleek!
 
The FK-320 was designed as a high-end workstation chassis for Intergraph / Silicon Graphics. The drive cage is constructed to be a heat sink as well as a dive mounting system. It has been tested with 12K drives and been certified by IBM and Seagate. With respect to the acoustic issues FKI does not ship with a front cooling fan installed. The type of fan is very important with respect to acoustic issues. Try a Fan like the Sunnon or the Mai Jie with a thermistor so the fan will only increase as the temperature does. Some distributors put cheap fans in there and this is a common source for acoustic issues. There will be a P4 configuration coming soon that will allow for a 120cm fan in the rear as well.

Damn, now I may have to purchase another one!

I was looking at a Micron Millenia Max demo case in Best Buy, the other day and I couldn't help but think that maby Fong-Kai was their (Micron's) vendor, there were many similar features, although the Micron was really radical and much more fully featured:
Two large fan cages in rear (vertically stacked)
Beefy sliding side panel lock that really worked good.
Swing-out ps mount.
Heavy plastic side covers (metal clad).
Case sits high up in front on large integrated feet (better vents).
Very sculptured design w/similar coating on all internal metal parts as the FK 320 (and most other models).

I eagerly await the new modifications!
 
Another company Min Maw manufactures the Micron box. It is a very nice box.
Yes there will be several new products next year (2001). A plastic skinned version of the 320 and a major update for the FK-603.

Erk. I heard that this case was good at keeping the noise down. That's why I was specifically looking at it. Doh... the search continues.
 
Dood, its the fans more than anything else that make a difference in noise. Panaflo makes some quiet, but good cooling fans, and I use those to minimize noise. To reduce noise further, on any case, you might want to line it with accoustic material.

You can't really get too much better than this case without spending a whole lot more. The Antec cases are also nice, but I like this case better, the curvacious(is that a word?) body is to die for ;-)
