What do you think of this project http://en.fon.com/ ?

Wouldx you be happy if it took off and in a few years we can use high speed internet where ever you are or would you rather not have this take off at all ?

I really don't care either way.

Yes, Yes, I know only a few isps allow it and most do not. Hope that changes sooner or later.

Theres always the option of paying sense you can if your isp doesn't allow it. Time will tell if its expensive or not. If it is no one will use it.

What about the security concerns? Just thinking about letting total strangers use my WiFi connection gives me the willies.

i live in a remote/rural area

not sure the cows have a FON compatible router to share back with me

I don't let people off the street to use my restroom so I sure as heck am not going to let somebody on my wireless.

They are going to put access where there isn't any and its very remote.

All the dark spots.

You don't have to sjhare your wireless if you don't want to. Its just one option.

You can pay for it instead, time will tell how expensive it is. Shouldn't be that bad plus if you abuse their network they will know because everyone has to put down real information.

I am glad google is supporting it!

I wouldn't mind if people use my unsecured connection if they were from out of town and just needed to check their email or something... but if I found out my neighbor was using it and not getting internet of his own or just generally adding network traffic so they could do dumb crap, then I'd take action.

And by action I mean administer classic Injury drop-kicks.

Exactly.

I wouldn't mind if someone using mine because they just moved in either and had to wait about 2 days to a week for the cable or dsl person to install it.

Would you mind in this case?

As long as the person is not being a bandwidth hog on my free access on my wireless network I don't care. Now if they are using newsgroups 12 hours a day then I will get angry. That will suck all my bandwidth dry.

They can surf the internet, check their email, instant message, chat, download small things that take only about 5 to 2 minutes to download, play onlin games, vpn of course only if they think they should, and buy stuff online if they want. They just can't be a bandwidth hog on it like if they start using newsgroups.

Not at all.

That's like letting someone borrow some sugar. If they need some sugar because they are in the middle of cooking, that's cool. But if they don't buy sugar because it's cheaper to walk next door and get some... fcuk them.

Thank you!

You see my point exactly!
