Whoa! Sweet car- what year? What color? PICS??

For the record, I forgot to add my car in my post above:

Learned on: 1982 Jeep CJ-7; still have it in the family
Currently a: 1986 Volkswagen GTI
Next year, a: 2001 Volkswagen Passat turbo

...yes, all stick. ;)

Manual.

I've never driven an automatic, so driving a manual doesn't bother me at all. Most of my time driving is spend in traffic, but I've always done it in a manual.

Yep. If anything, its something to do while sitting in traffic.

That's the way I see it. Anyone who whines about a manual in traffic just simply is a whiny non-auto enthusiast. :D

All of our cars are manual, even my wife prefers manual over auto. I'm not sure I understand opinions about preferring an automatic in heavy traffic. Having lived in L.A. for 20 years, I always preferred a manual over an auto because a manual will creep through traffic slower than what an automatic will. Bumper to bumper on the freeways, I'd put it in first and just creep along. Never could do that with an auto the same as you can with a manual; any automatic I drove could never creep as slowly as a manual could.

So if you don't drive a manual, you're not a "real" man...BS

The results on this board are not indicative of the real world. This is a board of enthusiasts. On this board you are not the norm if you have never overclocked your processor. On this board you are shunned if you don't build your own PC. On this board, people complile linux kernels for fun. On this board you have people who have more computers in their house than they've had dates with women.

It's not exactly a "normal" population sample.

Apparently. I think their right arms were excercised quite regularly BEFORE they learned how to drive, so they got used to it. :p

True...in the real "American" world, 82 - 83% of vehicles sold are automatics.

'02 VW Golf GLS TDI -- 5-speed manual

Out of the 3 cars i've owned, 2 have been 5-speed, one was an auto. I'll never buy an auto again. :disgust:

It's a 2002, only had it a couple of weeks so far. Haven't had a chance to snap any pics of it yet (my camera was on loan to my sister), but it is a silver 2.7T. Definitely the best ride I've ever owned.

Manual. Learned on a 1981 Subaru DL Stationwagon. Cable clutch + no power steering = mass fun trying to parallel park ;P These are my current rides. The one on the left is a 1997 Acura Integra GSR, and I guess the one on the right can be considered a stickshift :p

'02 VW GTI 1.8T, manual, 100% man here even if some of you mistakenly think I drive a pussy's car.

Also, I love to sit in Houston traffic with it.
