Thanks for the help guys!!
Well i took your suggestion and did what you said.
I have admitted defeat....there is no way that I'm going to make 3.4ghz without
buying new 800mhz ram.
Now I have another problem...

After setting the bios my computer booted to a black screen..and shut off.
I rebooted into bios and my original setting were gone. The lcd number panel in my mb
read 52.I called evga and the guy told me that my board was faulty and there was nothing that could be done.He said he would send me a new mb..then he gave me 8 different prices on rma shipping. The guy didnt know his stuff so I followed my gut..

I configured the board back to factory settings.....and was up and running again
(maybe I should work for evga????).Now when I over clock...I cant reach 3.2ghz???
My sytsem clocked to 3.2 with ease before..

Now each time that I overclock my max setting gets lower and lower....
I'm at 2.9ghz now on a chip that easily reached 3.3ghz???

Whats the problem???Is it my memory or my motherboard???
I even reinstalled my operating system to see if there where any changes..but no....

Help!!!I wont get greedy again...I just want my old 3.2 ghz back.

Should I send my motherboard back????

wait... i'm confused.... doesn't the 680i boards have an unlinked mode where you can separately clock the fsb from the mem?

doesn't the bios provide dividers that lower the mem speed compared to the fsb?

i don't see how you couldn't go higher than 8 x 400 with these options.

but anyway.... if you can get a new board, just get a new one... maybe something happened or something is wrong with the current one you have...

Hey Shimmishim!!!
Yes it does have an unlinked mode and all of the above...
I was able to reach 3.4 ghz but orthos would only run for 4 seconds
Everything else worked fine. You suggested that I change the memory speeds and settings..
I did....It was determined that I needed 800mhz ram...
because 667mhz could not spport 3.4ghz.

I began to clock back down to 3.2ghz...but my computer booted to a black screen
then it shut off...when I rebooted back into bios..all my settings were lost...
After the phone conversation with evga(which was hell)...I restored factory defaults..
I began the process of over clocking again but my cpu wont boot above 2.9ghz....
It could easily reach 3.2ghz with out breaking a sweat...
I hope this is a better explaination for you.....(remember my previous post?)

Clear CMOS, drop the ram to ddr667, set command rate at 2T. If you still can't overclock, RMA the board
