I haven't seen any posts on this subject, so am wondering if I have an isolated connect-path problem with folding@home / stanford, or if anyone else knows about this problem. I cannot access folding@home's sites, nor any of stanford's. It's been down since the weekend.

Are you able to reach folding@home / stanford?

Do you know what the problem I'm having might be?

Madwand1 welcome to the DC Forum and the TeAm!

Sorry you are having a problem.

I am connecting OK.

You connected OK to get that WU (work unit) that is trying to send in so something must have changed since then.

F@H uses HTTP to connect/send/get. One way to test if a server is "UP" is to enter its address in a browser. I tried - 171.64.122.133 - and got a page with "OK" on it.

Is maybe your firewall stopping the connection?

I can't see anything from Stanford at all, and my firewall logs don't show any relevant blockage. So I guess it's something to do with my ISP / their connectivity -- I'll try contacting them. (Ugh!)

Many thanks for your reply.

It's working again. Yeah! (I was worried I'd get cold with the CPU's taking a break.)

That's great!

Did you have to do anything to get it to work? Or did it just start on its own?

I sent an email with a trace to my ISP, and it was working a while later. Cooincidence probably -- faster response than I would have expected. It's also possible that someone else reported the same problem to them a couple of days earlier.

Beyond that, no changes from my end, and everything just came back and auto-recovered -- the software's working as well as you'd hope/expect.
