Folding@Home Spring Push To Move to #15 In Team Rankings (**FINISHED**)

For most of us, spring (and higher temps) are close. I've seen several users mention they are quitting, or scaling back their folding until fall. With temps rising in NC, I'll soon have to cut my output in half. So before that happens, I wondered if anyone here wants to crank up their output for the next 14 days to catch SweClockers who are currently in 15th place?

As a team, we have doubled their output for a while now, and we have slowly been gaining on them. At our current output, we will pass them in 1.5 months. I think we can shorten that time. Our team rocked the Tom's challenge (more like a beat-down 😉 ), so I know we have the capability.

So who else wants to shrink that 812 million point gap?

I've been pretty focused on Formula BOINC, since Mark has the TeAm covered in F@H for the most part. I don't know if a brief contribution would make a difference, but I'll throw in some GPU time.

I stopped folding on my main desktop a few days ago (warm weather), but I'll turn it back on for at least 1/2 of each day until we hit #15.

That's what I am doing for the next few days as our highs are in the 80s. However, after that it looks like a cold front is coming through, and our highs will be back in the 60s starting on April 4th and lasting for 10+ days. During that time, I can run all four computers pretty much 24/7, and I should be able to hit 2.5 million PPD.

I am maxed at a little over 12 million PPD.

I'll jump in and help out. I dled the client then entered bbhaag as my user name and 198 for the team number. It's reporting my contributions are going to Team AnandTech so I hope that is correct. This is the first time I have done any folding@home.

We'll take it! 🙂

You should also need a passkey to enter as well. If you click on configure, identity, and then click the blue link "Folding@Home passkey request". After filling out the page, it will email the passkey to you, and then you go back to the identity tab and put it in.

Thanks for the tip. I just entered my passkey.

The heatwave is over, so time to kick up the cards.

I wish could leave my windows open with the cool temps we are going to have for the next 10 days, but the tree pollen is absolutely horrible right now, and that kind kicks my butt every year when the trees do their thing.

The rig in the sig is my main PC. I also have a GTX 1080 in an old HP machine folding 24/7, and after my son is done gaming for the day, I run his GTX 1070 for around 12 hours a day.

If I could get a GTX 1080ti at MSRP, I would add another.

well, not quite MSRP. but EVGA has one for $929 right now on their web site. I have 8 and 2 1080's and 2 1070ti's, and I can't afford more electric bill, so I am done.

We've made a dent in their lead. We started down 812 million points, and right now we are down 736 million. Everyone willing to do some serious folding while temps are cool, every point helps.

They must have seen this post, or saw our increased output as they had a brief increase in their output for a few days, but they are now falling back down to their normal range.

I added another GTX 1070ti for the folding effort, so I should be able to hit between 2.5 - 3 million PPD while it's cold here.

We are now at 685,152,427 points behind them. A good start for the month for us so far at 222,404,050 million points. Poor 'ole Sweclockers are back there snoozing with only 89,480,024 million points so far this month.

Hopefully we can get some more people folding, and get our daily production trend line going upward.

Well, estimates say we are gaining 12 million a day and 1.2 months to catch them, down 687 million now. And soon, I may have to go down to 6 million ppd. Last night it was 82 degrees in the house with most of the windows open. And that was 65f outside. Monday its supposed to be 70f. Not bad for most but with 12 really hot video cards (8 1080TI's and 2 1080's and 2 1070TI's) it get hot fast. And my electric bill is already maxed and more.

I've got until April 12th before we get back to the 70s, so right now my PCs are keeping the house warm. At that point, I will likely only be able to run my GTX 1080ti and 1070ti during the day time, and firing up the other two (1070 and 1080) at night. Surprisingly my 1070ti gets more PPD than the GTX 1080.

The point difference is down to 648,354,556.

Since this started, we have moved from passing them in 1.5 months to 1 month. Great job and keep it up as long as you can with the higher temps arriving for most of us in a few days.

Just popping in for one last update here. Today is the last day that I will be running all my GPUs 24/7 as our temps here in NC have started warming up. I'll still run one GPU 24/7, and will fire up a few more during the overnight hours, overnight temps permitting.

Thanks to all who helped put a dent in SweClocker's lead going into spring. Also, by the end of the day I should have moved up to 25th place on our team.

Lastly, I just got our electric bill for the last 30 days, and holy moly those electric charges are higher when you do some serious folding. :tonguewink:
