Hey I'm getting better at putting the lines/columns in, I only had to adjust the first nine after one try!

Sorry about any slight name differences.

Thanks to all who contributed - big and small :D

First time seeing these stats, and just have to say, GREAT WORK!

Just got my second CPU up yesterday. The case is the cardboard box the wireless card came in. Had a quick question. Would anyone venture a guess on what the SLOWEST CPU speed would be that would still be worthwhile folding proteins (i.e. making most of the deadlines in time and worth the electricity going through the box.) Thanks.

Welcome smorrow27 to the forum :)

Your question has two parts:

1. A 500 Mhz computer will meet the deadlines if it is folding 24/7.

2. Cost of running the box is harder to answer. I have a PIII @ 1Ghz that I will probably run until it dies, but it is a laptop and doesn't use much electricity.

I would probably still run a slower computer.

I have seen arguements to save the money you would have spent on electricity for a year and use that money to buy a fast computer. Kind of makes sense, but would be hard to do :p

Let's see what others think?

Hmmm...sounds interesting. My dad has an old P3, and I want so say it's around 500MHz. I'll look into it. The x-factor is that electricity gets split between my two roommates and I, whereas a faster chip would come fully out of my wallet. Man, I can be a dick sometimes.

Maybe I should have posted this in a new thread.

Top 10, would you believe? Hmm, perhaps I should divert a box or two to Rosetta, where I am involved in a race too. And then, perhaps not, I am involved in a race here too... Decisions, decisions ... ;)
