Folding@home or Seti@home

Which DC app is more popular. SETI@home or Folding@home.

I never did use folding@home and did some SETI, some recetly but I'm setting up an older box to run DC 24/7 and really just want to know which is more popular here on AT.

If your older box is not too old and it has a GPU that you could run F@H on, you could run both. Seti on the CPU and F@H on the GPU 🙂

The GPU client gives the best PPD anyhow.

think i'll just run seti@home since now that I think about it, this box is too old to be worth it in folding lol...may as well add to my existing seti work anyway.

No GPU for it either, it's a mac.

The Mac should do quite well, if it has a C2D Intel processor or dual G%-processors.

Here is a thread over at MacNN's forum: http://forums.macnn.com/72/tea...08/enhanced-optimized/
which may help you to increase production. Here and there in this thread are downloads for optimised applications (using better compilers [Altivec for G5] or SSE - SSE4). I am running the Altivec optimised application on a dual Mac G5 - and the production has more than doubled. Good luck!
