It is in public beta, but there is not enough of a change to call it beta, IMO. If you run dual of any kind, this is great.
Also good if you have too much memory to get a WU you prefer, just tell the server you have less! :)
And no more having to explain how to set -advmethods flag ;)

Client v.5.04 is in public beta for Linux and Windows (console). It allows configuration of the amount of memory reported and the setting of advmethods through the Configuration so that it persists. This is a maintenance release, with more signficant improvements coming in v.6.

Link to download page.

This maintenance version allows configuration of the amount of memory to indicate available, especially useful when running multiple "big unit" clients on a single machine. It also allows for the setting of -advmethods as a persistent option through the Configuration.

In the advanced options, this is asked:

"Memory, in MB, to indicate {1022 available} [1022]?"

And if you don't answer yes to deadlineless:

"Set -advmethods flag always, requestion new advanced scientific cores and/or work units if available {no/yes} [no]?"

Enjoy!!

*Had to change greater than, less than for curly brackets

Thanks GleeM!

Did I read that right? Some WUs are witheld if they detect too much memory?

I look forward to giving it a whirl.

So if I understand correctly, this should let us enable -advmethods on F@H when installed as a service, without hacking the registry? That would be cool. :D

If there is a WU that requires 256MB and another that requires 512MB, and I have 1GB, I will almost always get a WU that requires 512MB or more.

If a WU that requires only 256MB runs better on my computer, I now have the means to get it. Before I would have had to pull some memory out of the computer.
