Dad Gum it!!! I lost another rig. Same afflication, as the XP2600, it won't boot up. I didn't do anything to it this time. I think the PSU went bad in it. I just don't have to mess with it right now. I think my output is going to stay under 800 PPD for the foreseeable future. Sorry TAS.

Sorry to hear it Martin 🙁
You haven't had an electrical storm or anything lately have you?

Hang in there

No electrical storm here, but something worse; a kid storm in the form of 4 yr-old and an 8 yr-old who take turns shutting down the PC's by hitting the power button 🙁

These are the stats for the first day of the race. The day is longer than 24 hours since we started the race midnight and the stats will be done in the evenings.

I would also appreciate any proposals, ideas, tricks or anything which would make the table more appealing to the eye. Fooling around with .... and ____ and ---- and ~~~~ and **** and ^^^^^^ and ¨¨¨¨¨and +++++ and |||| and >>> or >>>> is not my idea of fun ... 🙂

I know that there must be an easier way - I am just too ignorant to know. 🙁

The numbers:
The ppd of December 1 is calculated as described on the previous page.
The ppd of December 2 (and in the future) will be taken from the tables at folding.extremeoverclocking.com.
The column "ppd in December" is calculated like this:
(the number of points in December) / (number of days of the race).
We will (I hope) see this number rising.
If you have any proposals do not hesitate to let me know - by posting or by PM.

Petrsu is frustrated ... ----> I know the spacing is no good - but this is enough! It'll be better later on in the race. Lousy font! 😉

Awesome stats Peter 🙂

I don't know how you got so many columns to line up! I can't get three to look even 😕

There IS a better way, but I don't know it. Maybe we can find out.

Also:

Oh, great. Starting with that high of a ppd, I will soon be the fastest fall-er.

Way to go Peter with the stats.
Noticed my ppd went from 288 to 422 in just one day. That happens when my slow machine finally spits out the 600 pointer and my fast machine gets two WU done in a day. My productivity won't stay that good unless I get an older socket A board up and running with a Sempron 2800+. I brought in a case and to my suprise it included a decent Power supply so I have all the parts I need but I have some transplanting to do as the new case is a matx and my asus board is ATX.

So a little downtime this weekend should result in 3 machines running full time for the rest of the race.

Stats are looking good! 🙂

Looks like I had a pretty big day today!
Tommorrow should be good as well.

I really wasn't expecting to be behind TAS already...... 😱
We may be in trouble guys.......

There will be some variation from day to day.

I got lucky today and picked up a whopper......................... a 39 point job.............:frown:

Of course I'm still chewing on the 683 point job..........(another day and a half)

I may be forced to enlist my seti crunchers. 😀

Great Stats Peter!

ROFL

I have two 36 point'ers and a 600 in the works...

You guys at the top... wave down to us every once in a while

Nice DUMP GleeM

Hey, most of that (1800) had been crunching for a week!! And I had a bigger dump at the start of November.

And all pistons are firing on F@H now 😀

😛 two 41 pointers for me on one machine 🙁 then "something" closed my network connection so another wu finished but sat idling until i just noticed it 😛

must be coincidence as i don't think f@h is supposed to close the network connection but i swear, i had this problem last month when i was running f@h and then it stopped when i switched to all boinc rosetta only to come back now, 1 day in to f@h 😕

anyhoo, thanks for the stats Peter  great work !!

Thanks Peter! And try not to get too fustrated. Your work into the stats is very much appreciated! 😉

My production will go down slightly now 🙁 I had to take a couple of machines off because they kept getting QMD units, which caused them to go slooooow. And I am too busy and lazy to turn the -adv flag off. So maybe later I will get around to it... 🙂

I had one machine get a new work unit llate last night and then hang on it. Unfortunately I did not notice until the next morning when I got up. Restarted it and it is working fine but I lost about 7 hours of crunching. First time I ever had it happen to me.

That is frustrating, Scott66. But it is also the "extended Murphy's law": "What can co wrong, will go wrong, at the worst possible moment and with the most deleterious effect possible" 🙁 Good that you are back up crunching.
/Petrus goes to check his comps/

Whew, no comps down /wipes his brow/
However, I got a 730-pointer on a Thunderbird running @ 1.0 GHz - it will take 7½ days to complete.
BTW does anybody know how good a Pentium M (@2 GHz) may be at crunching F@H? I have this SSF sitting to get burned in for a week or so. Any opinions?

Pentium M does great at most WUs AND does better than ANY other processor with the rest. (At least the ones with 2 MB cache)

@Scott66
Did it say anything in the FAHlog.txt about why it was hanging?
And what project number was it? So others can look out for same happening.

@mrwizer
Yep, QMD can slow down other tasks. Which is why F@H recommends doing them on dedicated computers. Thanks for giving them a try though.

Did you try setting the percent of CPU usage to something lower, like 75%, to see if that would make a difference? I would be curious to know if it helps - for future advice giving. (Or if I should just advise to stop doing them) How much ram on those computers?

Thanks GLeeM. I may thus burn in the processor by running F@H.
But it does also great with Seti@Home - BOINC: with the optimized application it does the WUs in 1 hour 1 minute - 1 hour 15 minutes. 😀
When crunching 50% Rosetta@Home and 50% Seti@Home the processor does 11 seti-WUs a day! 🙂

So, I'm poking around and check on my F@H progress and one of the WUs is a BONUS WU.. WHEEEEeeeee. then I check out fahlogstats and find:

I'm going.. wow, this isn't really all that much better than I was getting on my old computer... Oh wait, there is a Rosetta WU processing also.... HOLY CR4P... 300PPD on my old computer and 328 PPD with half of this one.... Merry Christmas to ME

😀

Looking at the FAH logstats I set up, I have a 46 pointer a 206 a 118 and a 600.... the 600 still has 85 hours left and it is on one of my slower machines. Is there any way to set these big point WU's to go to specific machines? It would be nice if that big one would be crunched on my main rig since it is tons faster.

I think I remember Josh or Gary talking about moving the folder from one machine to another... that would let you re-arrange what you get.

But unfortunately, there is no way to direct particular WU types to a certain place other than disallowing them on the machines you don't want to get them.

I recommend the former.... ask GleeM or ProviaFan or one of these other F@H gurus. They'll know

Now this looks better, doesn't it? I mean visually. 😀
And as a TAS-F@H-mini-team-member, I like the numbers too. 🙂

Thanks Hellburner, GLeeM, and the other TeAm-mates for helping me with the spacing!
A TeAm like this - that is more valuable than gold! 🙂

Thanks for the stats Peter! 😎

The gap is closing.... BUT

HEY FOLDERS....... MORE COAL......

Doesn't anyone's grandmother have a computer?

-Sid

edit: Anyone know if the -pause flag works in the service mode (I know where to put it). I need to re-arrange some stuff and don't want to loose the install if possible.

Thanks for the new stats Peter

GLeeM it was Work Unit 2074 and my log just showed no frames being completed. It just hung at the stage just after loading the WU whre it has the crazy time to completion like it does until it finishes a few frames. My other computer was working on the same Work Unit number but had not problem. Now they are both working on 600 pointers so no points until late Monday
