thats right folks I got the CLI quick start guide done! HERE IT IS! my next guide will be showing you how to install it as a service 🙂 (that way the bloody window is hidden 😉 )

Cool, thanks narzy. Have you guys seen these apps for fah? Doh, didn't bookmark it, be right back with it.😱

Here it is, link, looks like they give you "seti-spy" abilities for fah, you can track you current wu.

Hurry with that service install!! 😉

That is the one I need, then I have some computers for the F@H team. 🙂

edit:

Is there a user config file similar to the seti user_info.sah file that I can copy between computers? I was wondering if people with multiple computers running this actually go through the config every time........

*bump* for any members who want to fold for TeAm Anandtech

Here's a link to a site that offers advice and apps to enhance your fah experience 🙂

How about a PM to the AnandTech Moderator so he can post info about Team AnandTech Folding@Home in the sticky on top of this Forum?

Narzy you could link your well layout guides in there...

Just a thought

there is but from my tests copying it does not work, the client also gives you a UIN (Uniqe id number) on every client...so thats kinda a double wammie.

I noticed something interesting recently that might relate to a service install. My WU is going too slow on my machine, so I was going to quit and see about a smaller one. Since I was running the CLi, I just closed its window. The interesting thing is, the CORE executable kept running; and it's still running! 😎 Hidden! 🙂

I don't know if the core will stop when it finishes a WU or not; I'd let you know, but it will take about three more days. 🙁

P.S. About copying a file, I imagine one could redirect STDIN to the program from a file. But I haven't tried that, either.

FYI... I switched from the GUI to the CLI version and it picked up the current WU I was working on with no problem.

What monitoring for F@H have you guys tested? I tried File Monitor but it didnt like Win XP. I am trying Folding Control now... I am looking for a program that will hide the CLI dos window.... Any ideas?

20 WU's and counting on 4 computers!! 🙂

I'm working on the service guide, the easyist way is to make a schedualed task to run F@H cli at startup

Nix Folding Control..... Program was super slow for some reason and I couldnt find out where to associate the team...... So now Im back to normal CLI window.... Anyone else have luck with addons for F@H ?

Does the 'scheduled task' method give an error on system shutdown with the CLI client? That is, as I understand, the biggest problem with running the CLI as a service.

no, no error. atleast not that I personally have experinced. if you do get an error with a service install, what OS has it been on? if 98, is fast shutdown enabled?

i cannot get a machine ID at all, im behind a proxy, put the proxy info and still nothing. ive tried putting one in the client.cfg file manually, still not working.(just made up something for it)
