folding@home as a service

episodic

Lifer
Ok, since I found out that distributed.net wasn't the most popular project here, I joined folding@home.

I must've been sent the work unit from hell cause my barton 3000+ has been cruching over 24 hours and is just half finished with the first work unit.

One thing, I suppose I won't appear on stats until 24 hours after my 1st work unit is submittted, - right?

And I also answered 'yes' to running it as a service - however it is still running in a window and when I close the window it stops running.

I started to just install firedaemon - but I figured I'd ask here first what is up with that and what should I try. I'll be bringing my applebred duron 1.8 on board with it soon, and two other celeron machines as time permits.

The service install runs in a dos box right after it installs and if you close it you are correct it stops. Just restart your system and it will run like a normal service in the background. You could have got a large WU to start with and even if you didn't these WU's can take a good while even on fast processors.

Glad to have you folding with us!
