My son killed his computer with spyware and viruses (even with Mcafee !) So I have 2 smp units down until further notice. But I have 2 9800 GT cards coming on the brown truck Friday. And I have room for 5 more.....

The nice thing about winter is that all your folding boxes will soon work to REDUCE your power bill! $269 this month, a 100 drop. It could be the new windows I installed (15) or the temp change.

Is it green to heat your home with folding boxes?

Great job team on 500,000 pts in a day! If we got every member to run a gpu client with an Nvidia card we would triple that.

I have lost 3 crunchers to file_IO_error messages. What is really frustrating is that after deleting the whole folder the client was installed in and starting over fresh I still get the exact same wu and IO errors with it every time... Can someone please help me restore my crunchers (and my sanity) ? 🙁

You should only get the same WU three times in a row. If you can, watch if you get the same WU and delete it.

Or you could change the MachineID and get a different WU.

Or you could open "regedit" and go to the following key and delete the UserID value to force getting a new UserID.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PandeGroup\Folding@home

The server keeps track of what WU it sends to UserID+MachineID, so if either are changed you should get a different WU. Doing this will add another CPU to your total though.

I get that or EUE about once a day (with 10 smp clients running) and have to start delete and recycle those 3 times.

What a pain....It won't even keep going, says "has encountered a serious error" and shutdown. When I was on a business trip last week, 5 of my 10 clients were down due to that by the time I got home 5 days later. My stats still haven't recovered.

I've read about this error a lot over at the fah forums. There is pretty much a consensus that the newest releases addressed it. You might want to take a stroll over there and make sure you're using the latest.

What kind of client are you talking about? What version are you running now?

I have noticed with the latest version, if it has EUE's, it sends what its completed and starts over without me doing anything what so ever. Only thing is, as you said, it runs again up to a point, EUE's again and repeats for a total of 3 times. Starts over and the 4th seems to be running fine. I just like that it sends what it has completed already. I will try to dig up my log file on the RIG that has this info....

The Client is FAH6.22beta2-win32-SMP-mpich.exe, I believe it is the latest version and was working properly until recently.

If you are running SMP clients, I recommend the r3 version of the client. Your opening header in your fahlog.txt file will identify which one you are currently using.

I changed the .exe to the newer r3 client and this seems to have revived my failing folders
