Sorry about any slight name differences. Or errors.

Thanks to all who contributed - big and small 😀
And thanks to those who are crunching a WU and will be on the list soon 😉

I think I finally fixed the error I was getting with the smp client.

Took out -forceasm, seems to work ok now.

Apparently I've "improperly terminated" the core 8 times when I ran it today, but it didn't give me any other error and seems to be folding again. 😀

0 out of 500000, that's what I want to see 😉

Edit:
Wow, 1700 points for 1 WU? I did 2 BIG ones and only got 400 for running 2 single core clients.

These must be some demanding WU's 🙂

Edit2:
This makes me want my quad core even more. Booo F@H.
(I think i'll be grabbing something like a Q9550 in Jan. 😛)

Then I guess I can try and get some parts to rebuilt the Opty machine again, run F@H on it or something 24/7, dunno yet.

MadMurph.... Your days are numbered. My 5th Q6600 should be online tomorrow night.

Well, at least we can say that f@h is not only good for the scientific community, it is obviously great for the GNP. Payday's tomorrow! Hurt me Mark, hurt me.

OK< its online at 3.510 ghz. I have no idea if its stable, only been up 20 minutes. and the numbers won't start coming in until tomorrow, but it won't be long until I get 1st back (unless you keep adding computers, 42 already ? Where do you get them, a lab?)

I had my quad stable at 3.6 on air, until I got one of those 10mb projects (1000000 steps), then it'd hiccup every now and then, so I was watching it constantly. There were a few of those projects that it just wouldn't finish, no matter how closely watched.

I agree with Insidious to a degree, that some of that fault lies with the software authors, or intentionaly built-in "compromises," but at 3.4ghz, it's rock solid, regardless of project assigned.

There's not really 42 -- some duplication from re-installs -- there's, as Mark would say, "only" 37. Yeah, I built a lab for my "kids," but I assure you, they're all mine. Cheers, MM

(great thread to reach a hundred posts on. MM)

Oh, Murph, even with this, I only have 5 quads, one C2D, and a pitiful X2 4400 @stock to fight your 37 boxes....Kind of not a fair fight, but.....

I can't believe that you OWN personally 37 computers. I am told I am insane for having 10.

I'm running the SMP client on three dual-core machines so far right now. But MDE's guide says to run one client per core which I am not doing. On each box, I have 4 FahCore_a1.exe procs running. Is this OK?

-jim (FAH n00b)

caferace, if you run the regular client, you want one per core. If you run the SMP client (better ppd, preferred), then you run one per 2 or 4 cores, or one per computer. It looks like you are doing the correct thing.

Thanks, Mark. I figured it was doing the right thing. Dunno if we can update MDE's FAQ though....

cheers,

-jim

Markfw900:

I was digging through some of my computer books this morning and found a box that says "Mark Williams Co. C Compiler Version 1.0 for Rainbow 100".

Any connection to you? Or just a coincidence (similar names)?

thanks,
-Scott

The Mark Williams C compiler is famous (at least it was in my time), but its just coincidence, but exact names.

Got my SMP client going.
If I don't do anything, I can hit ~1000PPD. 😛

I got 2 other computers though so I'll see if I can kick those on as well for the race 🙂
