Ditto for me

Gave up on the SMP for my 4800+ X2 and went back to the 5.04 for now.
Also trying to get my home theatre computer up and running. Switched to a Foxconn case that I sold the MB, CPU and ram out of. It is a very nice case for the money with a lot of cool features. Running Folding to stress test it.

It seems to load properly but when I restart the computer it seems to hang up and does not do any work. eventhough when i look at the FAHlog it says working but I never get any of the frame (xx) completed, I got with the 5.04.

The only way to properly shutdown the Windows smp client is to push ctrl & c while the window is active. Shut it down any other way and you may loose your wu data or not disengage the client properly. Also as the Windows SMP client is still a beta client, running as a service is not supported at this time, you will need to manually start the smp client after each reboot. And lastly, the SMP client is very sensitive to network changes. One way to workaround this is to disconnect your internet connection before starting the client and then reconnecting after the client starts folding.

Which program do I run to restart the client

First a few things you need to check before you run the client:

1 - The Windows SMP client requires .NET framework v2.0 if you don't have it the client will not work. You can get it here: .NET framework v2.0 Make sure to run Windows update and install the security updates for v2.0 if you need them.

2 - You need to have a password protected user account with admin rights, if you don't have this the client will not work properly. Make sure to run the SMP client under this account.

Download the client and run the extractor. Chose a location to install the client and finish the installation.

Open the clients folder and open the readme file. This cover all of the info needed to get the client running for you.

Hope this helps,

-Nate

Run the fah.exe located in your SMP folder. I have a shortcut to it on my desktop with the flags -forceasm -verbosity 9 -advmethods. Verbosity is the only one that you really should put because the others have no affect right now.

You can't use a shortcut in the startup directory to start the SMP client.
Windows has to start a couple other services before it can run (properly) and when you try to auto-start it, they aren't ready when it tries to come up.

(fah.exe is the file you run to start F@H/SMP.... AFTER windows is up and logged into.)

Thanks guys
After my work units are done, I will give the SMP another try. I think I see where I went wrong.
