Folders take heart... and take notice!

TA Folding@Home continues to make progress, churning out work units and racking up points. At least one other team has noticed us and is scrambling to stave us off, even going so far as to calculate what they to do it. So in short...

We need more members and more 'puters cranking out work.
More! More! More! 😛

Our "official" member count is 57, but I'm afraid that includes duplicate registrations (and similar mistakes) as well as inactive members. I think the true count is closer to 40. On the bright side we have had over 100 active CPUs within a week. Unfortunately we're getting into an area where the competition sometimes has 200 or even 400 CPUs. Of course, since we're Team Anandtech, our 'puters rock!

Still, we could use a few more warm bodies.

Wow we we are only about 400 points from being in 36th place!! We can seem to get out of the 40 - 41 range.... But Im sure we will move soon!!

Ive assimilated another 1 GHZ computer to the cause!

Anyone who can spare a resource or two or three or..... It's shaping up to be a great race to the top!!

Go AnandTech Go!!!

ok, i just downloaded folding@home, and want to know what the best way to set it up is? i got the text one and want to know if theres something to watch the % done? kind of like seti driver for seti...

Last week I tried the f@h software, but can't get it to work.
At home, the client doesn't show any information in the big screen. Only the ads for intel in the right bottom corner.
At work, the client shows al info, but both can't connect to a server.
They give the message "can't get an ID from server, retrying" or something similar.
At work we have a firewall, I tried with and without the "use IE settings" and manually entered the firewall info.
At home, I haven't got a firewall.

Any clues?

BFC, go here to download KDFold, a program you can use to monitor your wu's

KifArU, I had much the same problem till I found that if you grabbed the corner of the wu screen and pulled (dragged it to enlarge it) it, the text and diagrams showed up. Just out of curiosity, what client ver are you using?

Way to go, Syntax!

BFC - a wealth of general information regarding setup is available in the F@H FAQs, as well as the install guides on the download page. Easy access to both is found on the support page. F@H Help!

BFC.... (hahaha like your name)...... Let me know if you have any trouble with KDFold... Its a cool program. There is also a couple of other ones out there if you prefer. One other good one is called Fold Monitor.

Is there anyone else out there that is currently having trouble getting F@H to run? Post your problem and Im sure one of us can help!! The faster we get you fixed the faster you will be folding for TeamAM!!

RustyNale,

That doesn't work on my system. The full screen mode is even worse, it makes the ads run through the clock.
(can't post a screenshot here, but pm me with your e-mail and i'll mail it to you.)
Client version is the latest. Downloaded it last thursday.

At home:
Duron 1200, 512 MB DDR, Matrox G550, Win XP.
At work:
Different machines, from a 166 MMX, 48 MB to a P4 1.6, 256 MB. All NT4 sp4 or 6. None of them work.

Hmmm, have you loaded the latest video drivers for your card? When you hit ctrl-shift-esc (brings up taskmanager) is the core_65 exe listed there and working? If it is, then don't worry about seeing the gui, download an add-on like KDFold and use it to monitor your wu progress. I've seen problems in some of the other forums about being behind firewalls and not being able to connect, sounds like they're still working on it.
