Foldable desktop computer?

I've noticed that a signifigant number of people who buy laptops simply want them because they can be closed up and set aside, thus taking up no permenant desk space. What I'm kind of wondering, is if a desktop system about the size of a briefcase w/ LCD on the side and a place to stow a wireless keyboard and mouse might be a way to have a more powerful, cheaper system than a laptop while filling the need for a "set aside" computer

You've probably already heard about "desktop replacements" but do you mean something like this?
Quicknote
$799 out the door at Fry's B&M. I think that's a pretty good price for something kind of portable!

Something more along the lines of a device w/ a full size KB and mouse, and have the option of a higher end hardware like a full Geforce4 (non-MX) or Radeon 8500+ graphics card. Alot of people seem to stumble when it comes to using laptop KBs and touchpads. That's why I'm thinking of something that's more along the lines of a small desktop than a batteryless laptop.

Yeah, my laptop's keyboard drives me nuts. It spells things wrong all the time! 😉
It must be the keystroke distance that throws me off because it seems to be a standard size keyboard.

I've often toyed with the idea of making my own slim "iPC" but I spend enough money on hardware as it is!

I've seen many people with the same problems with laptops. If you go and look at CaseDepot under the portable section you will find some good cases with built in screens. They are also about the size of a breifcase. They also are quite expensive.
