I'm looking for user experience with 'Foam' mattresses. I've a spring posturepedic made by Original Mattress Factory and I'm thinking of going to a Foam mattress. Give me your opinion on your Foam bed and reasons why you do or do not like it.

Help

Thanks

switched to a tempurpedic bed 9 years ago. never ever will consider a spring mattress again. my close friend got one too 2 years ago for his bad back and agrees.

My father owns a mattress company, and I've had the privilege of using a memory foam bed for a long time. What I would recommend is go to a store, try one out. They aren't for everyone. BUT, DO NOT BUY TEMPURPEDIC. I cannot stress this enough. There is nothing different with tempurpedic than generic or off brands, except that their prices will be as low as 1/4th the cost for the same mattress. They have to pay for all of their advertising somehow... by ripping off the end user.

Are the "tempurpedic" beds different than these by Original Mattress Factory?

not sure, i don't see much info about the mattress itself there. i was thinking about maybe getting one from here. they have a slightly better comparison between theirs and the tempurpedic. but pretty much the main thing to be concerned about is the foam density.

How do the Latex & Foam wear after a while? I bought OMF posturepedic bed about a month ago and I haven't had a deep nights sleep since I switched from my 10yr old mattress. Now, I have 1 chance to get the bed I want at a discount because of the OMF's comfort garuntee so I don't want to get the wrong bed .. again. I am most definately not getting a spring bed this time, but I have 2 versions of the Latex Foam beds to choose from; a Plush & Regular Foam & Latex..

Going through this process now too. The wife has been looking at sleep number (air) beds and memory foam beds. I don't have a preference, I just want a bed that isn't gonna turn into fvcking hammock after a couple years like spring beds do.

foam mattresses suck for fun times. Just a warning.

I have one of the foam ones from costco. There is a problem when using the edge as it sinks instead of maintaining the height like a regular mattress.

Otherwise, other drawback is that it doesn't seem to breathe as well. It was fixed with a nice mattress pad.

Big positive is that motion isn't transferred so when someone gets in/out of bed, it doesn't disturb the other person nearly as much.

Other complaints I've read about but have not experienced is the "chemical" smell from the glue between the different foam layers and how it is "toxic." Also, since they're shipped all folded up, make sure it expands correctly.
