I?m just looking for a little advice on upgrading my shuttle so that editing HDV video would be a more pleasant experience before I purchase a new system, I?m no longer PC gaming. So I wanted to post some purchases I was going to make and get any feedback you guys have on my choices.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Toledo 2.2GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor - OEM

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...p?item=N82E16822144701

OCZ Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...p?item=N82E16820146970

The total upgrade would be about $270 and I?m not sure if it?s a worthwhile upgrade for what I?m looking to do, any feedback would be greatly appreciated

I?m still running windows XP pro but my last question would be should I upgrade to Vista and if so which version. The majority of time I spend on this PC will be browsing the web and importing and editing videos.

My current setup is

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Shuttle Inc
System Model: SN95V10
BIOS: )Phoenix - Award WorkstationBIOS v6.00PG
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz
Memory: 1024MB RAM

If it can really take an X2 (I don't know - just double-check), yes, that looks like a pretty respectable upgrade. If anything, I'd push you more towards an old Toledo X2 4400+, if you can find one - those have more cache, which could come in handy. Check FS/FT.
