I always end up with A 45 or higher on Southwest.
This time I paid for early bird and got A 24. Awesome.
Only 35 people on plane...

I've only flown a few times but I've always been amazed at how packed the plane is. What are the odds that this many people are going to the same place as me (at least for that specific flight, not taking into account connecting flights) from the same place, at the same time?

Then again Toronto is pretty much the hub so from here pretty much anywhere you want to go you go through Toronto first. But still, that's a lot of people to consider every other flight leaving that day is probably just as packed.

The airline industry is far from hurting.

Board toward the middle, find nice looking girl to sit next to.

Had that once. Had a great conversation and everything (short commuter jet for final leg of journey) for almost the entire flight... and it wasn't until the very end, she drops the "boyfriend" word. Ugh, that pissed me off.

I can't think of a southwest flight over the last decade+ that I would need more than one hand to count the empty seats.

Had a similar experience. I was sitting down on my SW flight and a nice young woman sits down by me and immediately begins chatting me up. We talked the whole flight and had tons in common. After we get off the plane she says "thanks for being such an interesting seatmate and for having a good conversation." I give her my card and tell her to hit me up sometime if she's around. She says sure, absolutely, and we depart ways. Never heard from her again.

I had a very nice conversation with the very attractive lady next to me on a DC - London flight. Neither of us got nearly as much sleep as we had planned. Unfortunately my wife totally cock blocked me by also being on the plane

Since Southwest doesn't have small capacity planes you can often find a fairly empty one for short hops to small markets at odd times. LAX to Oakland, San Jose or Burbank to SFO, Oakland or SJC and intra Florida flights come to mind at least from my experience

Anything less than about 100 and you can get your window/aisle seat. Why pay more? Is sitting in the front of the airplane really that much better? Only downside is waiting to get off the plane a little longer.

Yeah, the front of the plane has a smoother flight.
