Sorry to hear about your friend Gary Olds :rose: :
What tendons you damaged? My dad tore his rotator cuffs in both shoulders...
I tore the Supraspinatus tendon. I damaged it four times so far.

wow man, sorry to hear all that crap going on. my condolences about your co-worker. are you thinking of just waiting on the surgery until after you retire?
I am avoiding the surgery because I'd go crazy if I was off work for 4 months.

I don't know your back condition, maybe destroyed disks, so this advise maybe harmful but a few situps a day worked wonders for me.

If you let you shoulder go arnt you just destroying socket and that weakened tendon? Not a doctor that's why I pay and listen to them, you should too.:p
I have 3 partially collapsed disks and arthritis. I just don't want to take the time off from work but I may have too.

some 20 year old kid was killed here yesterday. he was drunk, speeding a parking lot, flipped his tahoe and was slung out.
I feel bad for him because he was young and stupid. But at least he didn't hurt an innocent person.

I used to feel the same way...and for the first couple of months, I nearly went mad from boredom. Too beat up to do much of anything except nef.
Fast forward 7 years...and I still go nuts from boredom...but I can find things to do to occupy my time. Naps are a favorite. :p

I wish I could nap. But I feel worse after then I am up all night. I used to be able to in the Army, but there you don't get much sleep anyway.

Really...have you ever looked at really how many DUI injuries are third person and then at all the other violent crimes out there that never get any attention.

DUI is a racket since most people that go out and drink and usually afford the $5k+ fines.

For every DUI death over 100 are arrested on the books.

I am not saying it's OK to do, but you'd like me too just to whine about it.

I hope a drunk driver kills someone you love.

Ok I don't really wish that, no one deserves that, but it certainly would be "karmic".

To olds: Hope everything works out for you.....

As far as drunk drivers who kill someone - they should get the death penalty and I'm dead serious. I can still vividly remember cutting victims out of cars both dead and horribly injured as victims of drunk drivers when I was fire-rescue....

I mean these jerks DRIVE to a bar TO DRINK. How the heck did they think they were going to get home? Exactly. They KNEW they would be driving home with alcohol in their blood. And don't give me that "maybe they didn't intend to drink, they got talked into it, it just happend" crap either. If you're driving, you already KNOW you can't drink any alcohol, simple as that. So for me, its PRE-MEDITATED endangerment of the rest of society. And if they kill someone, it should be a capitol offense since there was NO excuse for them to be under the influence while driving a vehicle. Got that? *NO EXCUSE*. This subject gets my blood boiling so I'm gonna stop now before I drag this out into a REALLY crazy rant....

My sister was just telling me about a 'taxi' service in Nashville. You go out to drink, and don't have a DD. You don't want to call a cab because your car will get towed. So you call this service, and a guy comes out on a little scooter. He puts the scooter in your trunk, drives you home, takes the scooter out of the trunk and leaves.

Creepy guy that knows where you live, and what you drive issues aside, I think that is it is a pretty cool thing.

Just shut up, back away from your computer and sell it to the first person you meet. Everything that comes out of your keyboard is pure drivel. Everything you ever post is either trolling or plain stupidity or a moronic combination of both. If you leave the forums now, no one will notice and everyone will gain 20 I.Q. through the zeitgiest as the forum collective will have become less dense by quite some factor.

Leave. Seriously. Just go, you're not wanted.

how about fuck you? Much of what I post is beyond your comprehension, doesn't mean it's drivel. You keep crying out troll, but your post above is a pure example of a 'troll post', you hardly contribute anything in any of your posts but to just agree with the masses or to flame another that doesnt.

Stick to cartoons.

Holy shit at that story!

Practically a whole family killed and then another tragedy while taking care of that accident. What a horrible story. :(

Yeah that's crazy. Also, 28 pounds of marijuana? And the car that was thrown back 50 feet? Man some things in the world are really fucked up.

Wow, you are a fvcking retard.

Don't mind him he has to post that drivel in every DUI thread. Attention whore and all.

I thought it meant Fapping My Loins?

It does.

I don't really nap much either. I wish I could...but I never actually get to sleep...sucks because, on a GOOD night, I might sleep for 5-6 hours straight, but on most nights, I sleep 2-3 hours before the back wakes me up and I have to get up and move around for a while...then, if I'm lucky, I can crawl back into bed for another 2-3 hours of sleep.
I have Ambien and Lunesta...but I don't like either one...and they don't really help too much.

Ok I don't really wish that, no one deserves that, but it certainly would be "karmic".

I have had a best friend killed and another friend maimed. I don't agree at all with the laws still.

Like I said, even the CREATOR of MADD doesn't agree with the laws in place now.

Insurance companies even have stopped really caring about 1st time DUIs for the most part if there is no accident/injury...they know the system is bullshit.

No one is staying get drunk and drive, but .08/.10 is hardly drunk for most people.

checkpoints and the like are so against our rights it's not even funny and around here they are commonplace. I have been late to concerts, missed entire movies, had a friend miss a flight all because I was corralled into a checkpoint.

The number arrested vs any incident is unheard of for any other crime. The mandatory sentencing and fines are obscene compared to even violent crimes.

What promotes the 'fight' is everyone thinks they know a victim and no one wants to disagree with some mother that buried her kid...MADD as a lobby loves this because they can make even more money pushing other issues through.

The odd thing is everyone that claims the personally know a DUI victim should also know a murder victim (and other crimes), but most don't. DUI deaths make the news and people tend to think of anyone from their hometown / school / work now a 'friend'.

To the OP, if you haven't had a blood panel done for inflamatory disease you may want to. Sometimes constant injuries are arthritis/etc based.

Alky...deaths caused by drunk drivers are 100% avoidable.
I'm all in favor of reducing the BAC levels for anyone behind the wheel. 0.04 would be a good place to start, although 0.00 would be better. There is NO good reason to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle after you've been drinking. I wouldn't complain if the gubmint closed bars, taverns, cocktail lounges, and did away with bars in restaurants.
Want to drink? Stay home. It's cheaper, safer, and you stand a much greater chance of avoiding going to jail.

ANYONE busted for DUI should get a minimum of one year in jail for the first offense...no work release, no "good time," one year in maximum security lock up...repeated offenses carry even more jail time...5 years for second offense, 20 to life for third offense, and life in prison on the fourth. Again, no "time off for good behavior," no "early release," just do the time. The second offense should also carry a permanent revocation of the driver's license and the person should be permanently banned from owning any kind of motor vehicle.

Some folks just never learn. I used to work with a pipefitter who admitted to 27 DUI's in his lifetime. He served about 6 months total for all of them. He treated it like a game.

Not really 100% avoidable. The thing is as soon as alcohol is mentioned it's a DUI death. Statistically 2/3's of the alcohol related should have panned out like the rest of the group...

Your idea of a minimum of 1 year would be the most expensive under taking of any line of 'crime'.

Your pipefitter should have had to pay out at least $135,000 and served almost 7 years of not being able to drive legally at mandatory minimums for first timers.

I think there is more to that story.

Keep in mind, DUI used to be just a "slap him on the wrist" offense. A wink and a nod was about it.
I worked with him more than 20 years ago, and IIRC, he only had one California DUI...the rest were in a variety of other states...many of which didn't share this kind of information. I agree that under current laws, he'd have been in jail for a LONG time.

The US has about the most relaxed DUI laws in the world. We should make the penalty for drinking and driving strict enough that people think twice (or more) before getting behind the wheel when they've had a drink.

It's almost much easier to get around without a car in other countries.

US is relaxed compared to the BAL limits, but we are unique in our money heavy fines as well as checkpoints...almost anywhere else you pretty much have to be observed fucking up to be stopped.

You also have to realize a lot of this comes from viewpoints like your's on closing down all public drinking establishments so that people have to drink at home.

You overlook for most drinking is a social activity.

A taxi will hardly cost you only $20 here, plus most places don't allow you to leave your car.

The fact is most people that were arrested would have never been involved in any issue with drinking. It's about a $5000 money maker per pop + the lobby behind it is the most powerful.

Even the founder of the MADD group doesn't agree with where it's gone.

BTW people drive while in worst shape than someone that had a couple drinks all the time and / or focus less on the road.

In the end it's an extremely minor number of people. Out of the 33,xxx deaths on the road way in 2009, only about 1/3 were DUI related. Out of those via "maths" as so many call it here, about 1/3 of those could be argued as a direct cause of the drinking. These are not your typical person getting stopped. These are fall down drunk people.

Also most of all DUI related instance are self-inflicted/self-damaging.

Almost every other crime in America is fall more damaging to our people, yet don't have the focus or fines associated with them as DUI does.

We should be focusing these same efforts against gangs...however; no one wants to pay for that with the DUI system the beauty is most can pay.

How about giving some examples of these horrible crimes that go unpunished? Speeding? Jay walking? Also, are you drunk right now?

most assaults, burglary, robbery...you are on the street same day...not much of a fine, no license revocation, etc.

Some community service until you get a half dozen or so under you belt.

60% of fatalities on the road used to be drunk drivers. That's a shit load of dead people for no reason.

Fishing? Running? Curling up watch an old Bogart movie? I've basically been semi forced retired since housing collapse and love it. I'm really serious about doing physical fitness. It's amazing how body can heal itself when you get blood flowing an hour a day. Assuming nothing is anatomically wrong ie broken bones, torn tendons, etc. Get a HRM and start small. by walking 45 min. after two three months you'll be able to jog whole 45 min.

I can barely walk to the mail box and back. (maybe 100 yards round trip) Running is definitely not an option. If I could walk as much as I'd like, I wouldn't be the fat tub of lard I am today...well, maybe only half a tub...:p

Arthritis sucks...it seems like everything I've ever hurt, knees, ankles, back, shoulders, etc. all start throbbing this time of year. I'm more accurate at weather forecasting than any of the local weather programs...:p

I don't know anything about arthritis. But I do know when I let myself go after motorcycle accident with major fractures and self medicaided with booze and excuses my whole body went to hell. High HR, Weight gain, back pain, poor sleeping, less energy. Exercise saved my life. Fucken hella painful moving 320 around with rods and shit in my legs. But now that history.

Take a look at this BoomerD.
