1) Open a starwood preferred guest account. You can join for free by going to http://www.spg.com

2) Buy 21 subscriptions to Inside Flyer magazine @ $59.95 each by going to http://www.insideflyer.com/starwood

Total cost to you is $1258.95. Get a total of 52500 starwood points. Give away the subscriptions you don't want to charity or your friends.

3) Open a Qantas Frequent Flyer account: https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyns/joinff

Transfer the 52500 starwood points into a Qantas account. One starwood point is worth 2 QF points, so with the starwood bonus, 52500 starwood points becomes 125,000 Qantas points.

4) Redeem 125,000 Qantas points for a roundtrip ticket on the concorde.

Regular round trip flight on the Concorde (LHR-JFK) is $12,749.02. Enjoy the extra $11,490 you just saved. The concorde flies at Mach 2. One way from London to New York is usually about 3.5 hrs. Supposedly you can even see the curvature of the earth from the great height that the bird flies.

Hahaha! That's an awesome deal if it works out. And I think this reminds me more of the guy who bought the Snackwell's pudding (and donated it to charity) for like a million frequent flier miles than the harrier/pepsi guy. :D

The deal works. I read flyertalk.com a lot. If you goto the British Airways forum, there are several reports of people taking advantage of this to get a cheap RT ticket on the concorde.

Supposedly its not that difficult to get reward seats from Qantas either. One glitch would be if Qantas decided not to give up any reward seats on the Concorde....but many people have posted that seats are pretty easy to get.

Do a search on flyertalk.com on the BA, Qantas and Starwood forum for details.....it really does work :)

Wow you mean $12000 seats aren't selling? LOL.

Wow, if I were going to the UK I'd jump all over this. Just the experience alone would be worth it. Hell, you might even sit next to Sting or some other celebrity.

Starwood has a threshold bonus for point transfers. I don't remember the exact details but I believe for every 20,000 points transferred out, starwood kicks in an extra 5000 miles....read the entire thread in the flyertalk link above for more details.

I was in a concorde about 10 years ago. Its incredibly small, compared to regular jumbo jets. I got to sit in the royalty seats....even got some kinda certificate. Never actually flew in one though, mine was a demo.

Also, remember that every Concorde flight comes with a commemorative kit with silverware, Concorde First Class crystal, photoframe (with a pic of you in your seat), ticket portfolio etc. (need to look at my dad's and see what all was included again...)

EDIT: Seats are not as comfortable as the First Class seats in modern BA jetliners (767, 777, Airbus A3xx etc.)--they are much smaller. Also, it is incredibly loud.

some folks can make that much in a matter of hours. the time you save from flying on the concorde may be well worth it then...

The roundtrip cost to the concorde is $12,479 not $22K. The amount I quoted above is for round trip fares, not one-way. Once the miles are in your starwood account, you can pretty much do anything with them. There are lots of starwood partners: all major airlines, amtrak, upromise.com, many charitable organizations, AT&T, Avis, Gap, Saks 5th Ave, Wallstreet journal...

Here are some other intangible perks to flying the Concorde:
- Leave London at 10:30 AM and arrive in NYC at 09:25 AM (hence the saying "arrive before you leave")
- Curvature of the earth visible at 50,000 feet
- Windows on the concorde are warm to touch and even GLOW due to the immense friction
- Unlimited caviar and champagne throughout the flight
- Sit with celebrities

Yes -- the seats are smaller than other international First class seats -- but who cares you're only on the bird for 3 hours instead of the usual 8 hour transatlantic flight.

Could they slow the plane down a little so I could enjoy my experience a little longer :D

Oh man, I might actually have to do this. Going to Europe at the end of the summer anyway, the extra $300 to fly on the Concorde might be worth it...

How could the plane be incredibly loud if you are traveling faster than sound?
