arsenal v. liverpool

can you imagine if the green bay packers logo on the front of the jersey was replaced with a giant XBOX logo? i think all of wisconsin would erupt in flames. well, at least the packers half.

I've always hated the logos on their jerseys. Not that I would buy a jersey...but they would look so much better if it wasn't on there. But it seems like thats what we are doing with advertising nowadays. from stadium names to everything in the stadium. When I went to a baseball game, even when they walk a batter, instead of a video of someone walking to first you see an ad for Clear Pass, associating walking to first with skipping out on long lines at security. They're selling everything. 5-6 years from now who knows, that XBOX logo might be right next to a packers one

When i first started watching soccer i thought manchester united's logo was the Vodafone 'O'.

but those clubs need to bring in as much money as they can get, any way possible. with no free agency and no salary cap and rarely any player trades, the only way to bring in new talent is by shelling out huge fees.

Barcelona usually plays with ad-free jerseys but this year they're supporting a good cause with Unicef

Arsenal definitely outplayed Liverpool, but Stevie G had some nice moves when Liverpool scored.

It wasnt a Premier League game. It was the first leg of the UEFA cup quarterfinals. But they do play a premiership game against each other this Sunday. And then the second leg of the qtrfinals next Wednesday.

Three games against the same team in about a week! Crazy!

Those teams pull in way more money than any American team of any other sport. They probably spend more $$ too on stadiums and players.

They don't have commercials every two minutes, unlike american football. So.. better for the folks watching it on TV, I guess.

i sincerely hope US teams never sell out this much

lol, no they just threaten to move to a different city and hold an entire community hostage.

In Ingerland each town has so much vested interest in their 'clubs' that they never move, they may want newer arenas but they never threaten to move.

You will see shit on NFL uniforms within a decade, imo. Maybe something on a helmet...

Look at NASCAR, those drivers suck off their sponsors every chance they get.

hehe, it was actually Champion's League, UEFA Cup is a different competition.. 😛

Arsenal-Liverpool second leg is on Tuesday (Apr 8), along with Fenerbache-Chelsea. AS Roma-Manchester U and Schalke-Barcelona play Wed (Apr 9)

its not really selling out, in Football there are no comericials, so the major sponsor goes on the shirt, prettysimple logic, and its been like that for freeking ever

Sports are no different than most of the entertainment industry (of which they are a part) - they exist to make money through advertisement.
