Errr....? Obviously, if there are only 55 million dosages, and there is a shortage...?

Well then perhaps they should die... and decrease the surplus population.

Well you can stash all the good drugs at your home so you don't need no stinking flu shot if you are doped up on morphine :p

The human body is fully capable of warding off sicknesses on its own. You must take into consideration that the flu used to kill people hundreds of years ago when nutrition was not where it is today. Many commonly consumed items today are enriched with important nutrients like vitamin C that help fortify our immune systems.
Unless of course a strain like the 1918 flue comes around and kills 2/3 of the world's population again.

I guess Texas is sheltered, I only know of very few people who have ever even had the flu. I've never had it, and rarely have I gotten colds.

Unless of course a strain like the 1918 flue comes around and our entire health care system reverts back to 90 years ago and all of our sewer systems collapse and we start eating dirt off the floor of the bathroom and kills 2/3 of the world's population again.

You geeks.

The flu shot doesn't actually give you the flu. Early versions of the flu shot contained proteins that resulted in some similar symptoms occuring in those injected, but that's way in the past now. I've gotten the shot for "free" (Canada) for 3 years now with no ill effects.

It wasn't a conspiracy theorist site either, it was a government site. :p Just can't remember right now if it was CDC or FDA.

The emergengy rooms in Denver were overwhelmed with flu cases last winter.

Yes, and a lot of them were hypochondriacs that were terrified because of the hype.

The flu is VERY deadly and is responsible for millions of deaths world wide historically.
The black plauge was a flu virus I think.
Uh...no. The plague was a bacteria yersinia pestis. Totally different organism.

It's a weaker strand of the flu. So, yeah, you can get sick from it.

If you have the flu, the last thing you want to do is give yourself MORE of it, a vaccine! She should have been getting antibiotics.

ummm....correct me if I am wrong....the Flu is a virus, so antibiotics won't help.....The only thing antibiotics will do is alleviate your symptoms.....

Gibson: you don't know what you're talking about. Kindly STFU and stop spreading misinformation regarding the flu vaccine. Thanks.

No, you are entirely incorrect. It's really quite stunning how incorrect you are. You've actually caused a coriolis effect on Jupiter on account of how untruthful your statements have been.
Given as one injection in the upper arm, the flu shot contains killed flu viruses that will not cause your child to get the flu, but will cause your child's body to fight off infection by the live flu virus. Getting a shot of the killed virus causes your child to become protected against that particular type of live flu virus if your child comes into contact with it.

A common myth about the flu shot is that it can actually cause the flu. But the flu shot used in the United States is made from killed influenza viruses, which means that it's impossible to catch the flu by getting this vaccine. However, because the nasal spray flu vaccine is made from live viruses, it may cause mild flu-like symptoms, including runny nose, headache, vomiting, muscle aches, and fever.

I guess I am, but i dont get how people can call it a "killed" virus, when viruses are not living organisms in the first place.... oh well, i guess i have to retake anatomy.

peace.

Actually, you'd want to retake microbiology and/or virology.
