Florida wants to tax computer networks!!

If there is something that is untaxed, the government will find it and find a way to tax it. Greedy politicians suck ass.
 
I don't get how you would tax something like that ... especially ones that are, like they mentioned, just 2 computers in an office... they don't generate anything.. sounds like it would be more of a fee..
 
Yeh. Just what small businesses need. EVEN more government supported taxes against them. My company would get killed. We've got over 40 locations that have a "LAN" of two or more computers.

I'm surprised this didn't come out of GA. Sorry to all the GA residents, but your states sucks when it comes to many laws.

I wouldn't be surprised if Georgia tacks on these Taxes/Fees when they pass the State DMCA Law in January giving the RIAA and MPAA FBI like powers to just come in and cease your computers, lock you up without a warrant or due process.

 
I have already paid taxes on the network:

1. sales tax on all materials purchased
2. FCC communications tax passed on to me by my ISP.

So they can just suck it, suck it long, and suck it hard.

You will have no choice but to pay the Tax if you want Internet access, they will tack the extra taxes on as another line like this one:
2. FCC communications tax passed on to me by my ISP.

It will automatically be charged to you. They said that in the article that it would add the % to the FCC & State charge lines on the bill.

Yes indeed.

There should only be 3 taxes in existence. A sales tax, a property tax, and a tarrif tax. And all three should be a flat tax. The States control the sales tax, the local governments control the property tax, and the Federal government controls the tarrif tax. The sales tax should cover ALL goods and services, the property tax should cover ALL owned property (including savings), and the tariff tax should cover BOTH export and import goods (including immigration - not sure what dollar amount you can put on a person though).

No income tax, no death tax, no privelage to work in the state tax, no double tax on stocks, no seperate school tax etc.

And if the State government needs more $$$, they get it from the local government, not directly from the people. The same for Federal government - if they need more money, they get it from the States not from the people.
 
It is sooooo hard to do business in Floriduh!!! My GF is closing her office due to all the taxes now!!

They claim tourists pay for all the state financial waste. Dont you believe it.

Just an assumption here, but I would guess they are trying to claim what you have investing in networking equipment - routers, hubs, switches, cabeling, servers, ect based upon your companies assests and depreciation books.
 
They want you to list everything in your office and its worth now and tax you a percentage on that every year. Just one of many small requirements. Business liscence, occupancy liscence, $10,000 bond to do business in the state liscence, building property tax and on and on. Know other states do some of these things also.

When are you supposed to have time to do business with all the accounting that is involved if your business is so small you cant afford to pay a book keeper??

In NC, they have a 'tar' tax. No, it is not a cigarette tax, its fer those round things you put on yur car to make it go.

 
9 or so % of what, though? A $10 NIC (or how much if integrated?)? An entire $10 firewall machine? $30 hub? $50 of Cat5e?
...and how will they know how many computers are there to be taxed?
