Simply picture the typical 5 assholes sling bullshit roundtable on FoxNews blasting on the televsion sets.
"He was just being theatrical! He was joking around!!
What about the person who recorded the phone call? When will prosecutors be bringing up charges? Isn't that illegal in Florida? What about this seat that is opening up and what impact would Trump have on the race if he fills the seat? What turn around it would be if he were to run and take this former democratic seat as it would show the failures the democratic party on Obama and Biden....."

Well ... This Floridian doesn't "fetishize" about anything like you mention. Believe it or not - there are large pockets of Florida who have sane political views. They just get over shadowed by the portion of nutjobs.

Reading about the alleged target, it sounds like she should be a golden child of the GOP. Former model, veteran, and nurse who wrote a book about a hospital that's been considered as disinformation...

The new rule is anything goes if it excites the voters enough to absorb the right wing media that steers them at the voting booth.
If the idiots at the rally cheer when he starts with the "She's a nasty woman" tag lines, he's going to go places in the republican party.

AFAIK, most of the "threat" statutes require that the threat be made to its intended target, not to a third party.

However, there may be a more serious crime here, that of conspiracy to commit murder. He says on the tape that he has a gang of Russian thugs ready to pull the trigger on his opponent. If that is true, it's a murder conspiracy which he confessed to on tape. It probably isn't true, though. But the state only needs to show that he confessed to it. He then would have to prove he was lying.
 
If he was threatening a Democrat he would probably be elected, not sure threatening a Republican is going to help him out. Also, shouldn't he be arrested for this?
