I have to wonder what the difference is between the 70's and now. Where I grew up it was not uncommon for a third of the cars parked in the high school parking lot to have rifles of shotguns in them during hunting season (some had their guns in their car/truck year round). Guns in plain view in window mounted gun racks in pickup trucks. Students went hunting before school started and after hours. Some carried hunting knives (6" - 8") on their side. No one thought to shoot up their classmates or was there a stabbing..
Isn't funny how the same lawmakers who claim guns aren't the problem are so quick to point fingers at the media, Hollywood and video games?? Oops, this isn't a Second Amendment issue, it's a First Amendment issue! Liberals gave up that canard years ago.
Conservatard hypocrisy at work I guess...or maybe they just feel safer speaking out against people whose checks they aren't cashing.
Video games, not guns, to blame for school shooting, says Kentucky gov.

Like I said you're OK with it because you're a NYC person whose biggest concern is getting shot by a gangbanger, of course you favor gun control. If you were an abused spouse who was reduced to defending herself by waving her restraining order as her ex beat her to death than you'd think less highly of gun control.
I'm also guessing if we turned back the clock a couple decades you'd probably be one of the ones on the jury acquitting Bernie Goetz for shooting those kids in the subway.
There is always the North Korea "3 generation" solution to these types of problem. If someone commits a mass murder (or other serious crime), they execute 3 entire generations of your whole family! Talk about extreme deterrent to report and take care of shady behavior!

The gun homicide rate was vastly higher in the 1970's than today. Maybe society wised up.
Again, there is no reason parks should be blocked from concealed carry. Anything that can happen outside the park can happen inside a national park, there is no magical barrier that changes the possibility of needing a gun.
I think that poor judgement is to blame.Somehow I knew this was going to be Obama's fault.

Pretty big difference if you ask the media and left politicians. AR-15s are meant to kill people. Hunting rifles and hunting knives are meant for animals.
You gunners are getting nervous again, eh? You know the tide is starting to turn and your precious toys are going to be taken away.
Better up your rhetoric game, because right now you're flailing and it'll be an easy win to come and get 'em, just as you knew was inevitable.
why would you need a gun?
One of the highschools here has a shotgun club, students go skeet and trap shooting regularly. No mass shootings even with very close exposure to guns there.

Providing that is accurate - 70s thru 90s saw a large spike. Hunting and gun culture was also around WELL before the 70s. So I mean if he had simply said 50s, you wouldn't have a response to that.
Please provide the exact characteristics that make a "hunting rifle" meant for animals and an AR-15 "meant to kill people." This ought to be good and akin to the list of "evil black gun features" lists that were the centerpiece of the assault weapon ban and most state laws.
You have a very odd thought process.
It's not whether I like it or not. It's what the 2A presents as the context as written.Common law is based upon the accepted general interpretation of a given law or circumstance. Historically the commonly held belief on 2A is that if the Congress wanted gun ownership to be restricted to only standing militia members that it would expressly state this but it doesn't. It specifies that the "right of the people" which explicitly states that the citizens outside of the recognized state militia have the right to keep and bear arms.
It doesn't matter if you like this or not just like the right doesn't like free speech when people are opposing their views but its their right to hold their own opinions. This is exactly why Congress needs to amend USC to specifically address the conditions under which gun ownership is not permissible. That way it will be law and not under the control of the executive branch to dismiss on a whim like what Trump did.

For all the exact same reasons one would conceal carry outside the park. There is nothing special to a national park that would prevent there from being a reason to need a gun just the same as one may find themselves in need of their gun outside the park. Concealed carry holders are carrying for self defense reasons, typically... wouldn't you agree?
It sure is and you aren't interpreting it correctly not to mention the fact that we have SCOTUS precedents on the matter. It's not whether I like it or not. It's what the 2A presents as the context as written.
