did you read the article? the guy was in a hole underneath a fallen tree. that is perfect cover and that is why it took so many rounds.

Fixed.

You know this guy deserved to go down.

yeah, but not like that.

He deserved a slow death, following a lawful conviction by a jury that saw all the evidence and came to the conclusion that he's the man.

I'm all for killers ending up dead, and maybe it was unavoidable that it happen this way, but I prefer the process of law be followed. Then again, I'd rather see it happen this way than another cop be so much as injured.

Best cop video I ever saw was one where a couple of Colorado cops were chasing a guy who had killed a couple cops, and had begun to shoot at them. After a chase that disabled one of the cop's cars (both cops were in the same car at the end) the guy ended up spinning sideways in the middle of the road, popped open the door, and got two shots off before the cops hit him broadside with his driver's door open hard enough that one of the cops ended up with a broken leg. I wish I could find video of that on youtube or google.

Bingo.

It was a lot of cops who all fired at once until they were sure he was disabled.

In another article (newer) he had the dead Officer's gun in his hand.

He had already shown that he would kill anyone that tried to take him to jail, 1 Officer, 1 K-9 unit, and shot at two other officers.

What did you expect them to do? I'm sure they didn't swiss-cheese him without ANY provocation...

I doubt they swiss-cheesed him at all, he probably only got hit twice:p

he might have deserved it and all, but they didn't see a gun... they shouldn't have fired. i bet you money that smith & wesson was planeted.

How do you know they didn't see a gun? The article says they did. Were you there?

Do you have evidence to back up the claim that they planted the gun? Perhaps a study showing that the cops are wont to plant evidence in a majority of cases? If you can come up with anything more concrete than "I don't like cops, and am inclined to think the worst of them," I'll be happy to listen.

The article is too vague to draw definite conclusions, but I WILL agree that if he was "slowly" lifting one hand, and attempting to lift the other in a nonthreatening manner (that is unspecified), they shouldn't have shot. They should have yelled "drop the gun!"

I lived over 35 years in that county. They don't mess around when an officer is shot. It's no surprise that the guy was shot when he was discovered. Most of the time people question why someone lived when they were caught after they shot a cop.

The killer was vermin and deserved to die like it.

WOW - that's a lot.

100 rounds is nothing when there were probably a lot of guns involved and they were up against a cop killer.

Murder dozens of citizens, get your picture on a list. Kill a cop, get hundreds of bloodthirsty gunmen on your ass.

When you kill a cop every guy on the force is itching to get to shoot some bullets into you. That's why there may have been 100 rounds fired at him.

This is the only news article that I have seen that said 100 rounds. The articles on other news sites just say he was shot numerous times. *Shrug* Boo sensationalism.

which is why i suspect the gun was planted... i'm not saying the guy didn't do it... i'm saying that the gun wasn't necessarily in his hand whenever the cops decided it was cop-killer season.

Um, no. We don't. We'd only know if he were given Due Process. One hundred fvcking rounds is not Due Process.

And killing him that way probably saved millions of dollars had he been convicted and sentenced to death in the wonderful US Justice system. More people shoudl be killed that way. THink of the money we'd save if we went back to firing squads or guillotines.

So it was actually 110 rounds. No sensationalism. 68 hit him. He shot the deputy he killed 8 times.
