Floppy Trouble!!

😕 I just got the Shuttle AK3.1 and I can't get the Floppy to work. When I boot the green light is on and stays on. Windows ME system info says the drive is OK but when I try to read from it I get "insert disk" I've check the cable several times. What's next?

You have the floppy cable on the wrong way round.

Make sure you have connected the floppy to a connector on the floppy cable which is located after where the cable splits (is that very clear????)

Its an easy mistake to make.

reverse the cables, some flobbys are picky on how the cable is put on the flobby, on ther motherboard pin 1 on the cable should be regular, on the flobby pin 1 could be anyside, so try reversing it

I had a similar problem... The drive didn't have the notched receiver to only allow the floppy ribbon to be plugged in in one direction, and apparently I plugged it in upside down. The floppy drive was recognized, and the light stayed on during boot-up, but was unusable... Reversing the connection between the drive and the ribbon solved my problem.
