my floppy drive (i was told it was a mitsumi but it says NEC GENERIC on my control panel) works fine until recently it boots up without any floppy disk inside, while the program i'm running such as IE5 or AIM and WINAMP isn't even floppy-related. it boots up even when i'm playing half life- counter strike! is it broken? or is there a way i can fix it? thank you
my system is pent1 233mmx 128mb 133Mhz SDRAM and 4 gig WD HD connected on school LAN
thank you very much!

Are you running 98SE? I had a similar problem with random floppy seeks until I reinstalled 98. There is a related bug in that OS.

yeah i was using windows 98SE before but i lost the CD so i installed the regular WIN98 instead... do you know how and where to fix the bug? random boots on my 233mmx is very laggy and annoying!

and haha yeah im on LAN w/o any anti-virus... until i can get a new computer i'm stuck with my WD 4.0gig with 700mb HD space =P... lucky i was never infected...
