Floppy Drive's light doesn't turn off and I cant access discs. Why is this happening?

Just recently, my floppy's access light has been staying on constantly and it wont read discs. There is no disc in the drive either. Why is it doing this, is there a fix?

The normal cause for this behavior is the floppy cable is backwards/upside down.

Try flipping the side that connects to the floppy and see if it works that direction.

Flipped the cable from the side that connected to the motherboard to connect to the floppy and it did nothing. I can't flip the cable in the floppy because there's the little notch.

Is this a new Floppy drive? If so look at it carefully and you will see a way to detatch the little notch plate and then you can put your cable on.

Unplug the floppy cable from the motherboard, flip it end-for-end, and plug it back into the motherboard. If it has a notch that's preventing this, file the notch off! 😉

Ok I'm stupid. I didn't realize that there were notches on both the top and bottom of the cable input on the drive (its dark in the case). I flipped the cable in the floppy and it works now.
