Floppy Drive Shutdown Problem???

Smooth

I have weird problem and hopefully you guys can help me out. I am running W2k pro. When I try to access the floppy drive, the computer shuts down, but it works fine if I boot from a floppy and try other disks besides the boot disk. I have replaced the floppy drive and cable, but no luck. Has anybody ever had this before? If so, please Help!

Did Win2k install the Standard Floppy Disk Controller in the Device Manager?

The only other time I have seen this happen has been with McAfee Antivirus 6
wanting to take control of the floppy.

Thanks. I won't have access to this computer until this afternoon. I will check what you have suggested. I do know the it used to have McAfee 6 on it, but was replaced with Norton Antivirus 2002. After I check these out I will reply back with what I found out. Thanks again.

I tried everything and nothing worked. I finally just re-installed 2000 pro and everything works fine now. Oh well.
