Floppy drive question

Howdy,

I just bought a new Epox motherboard, and the cable that came for the floppy drive is different then the floppy cables I've seen in the past.

In the past, the cable had one pin blocked off. For this motherboard, no pin is blocked off.

I tried hooking up a rather old but working floppy to it, and I just get a solid light on the drive.

Any suggestions? I need to load the Raid drivers, but apparently can't do it unless I have a working floppy drive :/

Thanks,

Kevin

a solid light on a floppy means the cable is upside down. fix that and you should be fine.

The red or blue stripe on the cable connects to pin 1 on the fd. Once you reverse the cable, take a sharpie and clearly mark pin 1 on the drive housing for next time. I always take new floppys and mark them before I install them (pin 1 is usually labeled on the board, right by the connector, but you generally can't see it with the drive installed).
