I just set up my new board(with 1.33 running great at 1.53! YEAH!!!) I could not get the floppy to work though. I had to get it running on an old install of Win me. Took a little work to get it all going, but seems to be O.K. I want to format and get a fresh insatll. The freakin floppy is driving me nuts though. I have checked and re-checked everything that I can think of. When I first triedtobootfrom the floppy I was getting a disk I\O error. After messing around with the BIOS a little I am not even getting that. It won't even seek the a:\ drive at all now. Anyone suggestions will be appreciated. I guess I could make a bootable CD and do it that way, but I want it all to be right.

You can try making sure the fdd ribbon cable is plugged in securely to the mobo. Some drives also have the red stripe plug in to the right side of the row of pins on the back of the drive, and some have it plug it to the left side, so I would try it both ways. Maybe even try another ribbon cable and/or floppy drive. Make sure the power connector is hooked up well, too.

Hope this helps.

try going back to to 133fsb. if that doesn't help, you might have to use the default multiplier and run default settings/voltage to read the floppy.

as you are, the floppy is "invisible" upon bootup/dos, but is accessible in windows right?

Try another cable. I tried a round floppy cable and it wouldn't boot up from the floppy but when I switched back to my standard cable it worked fine, so try another cable before messing around too much.

I still can't get the floppy to work right. It shows up now, but when I try to read a disk it says that the disk is not formated. I have tried several different disks and even tried to format one and it says that it can't format it. I have tried a different drive and I have switched the cable around both ways and I have tried a different cable. The Bus is set to 133, I just bumped the multiplier to get to 1533. I also tried putting everything back to default. It won't seek the drive when the machine boots. Thanks to everyone who replied, anymore ideas?

Make sure the BIOS is set up to have the disk as a: and then make sure it seeks it at the beginning and make sure it is setup to boot there. It sounds like it might not be working any more though. Usually when the floppy starts telling me it needs to format all my disks it's the first sign that it's gone bad.
