Floppy Drive grounding???

My floppy drive isn't grounding correctly. If the floppy drive is outside the case, it works. However, if it's in the case and screwed in, it doesn't work. Keeps giving me errors that either a. The floppy disk isn't formated or b. Please insert disk into drive a: 😕 😱

Not to mention that I've got a computer at my employer that does the same thing. It's an HP with stock Floppy Drive and screws.

Even stock FDs can be installed with too long screws. Use the shortest screws you can find for mounting all drives.

Do the shorter screws thing, and also look into getting a floppy drive cleaning kit. Sometimes dirt can cause screwy errors.

And screwing the floppy to the case will ground it. Plugging the power cables in should ground it too; the black power cables are ground wires (not Earth ground, but ground) and there are also ground cables in the flat data cable.
