Floppy drive failure (40)

Is the red stripe on the floppy cable connected towards the power cable? I think 99.99999% your cable is backwards. Also make sure the "loop" (2 or 3 cables are twisted) is with the floppy. Just make sure you cable is correct 🙂
 
Many things could have happened. The cables sometimes just go bad, the contacts could corrode, the bios may be corrupted, etc...
