floppy drive being shown as 5 1/4 drive? help me plz.....

For some reason my pc is showing my 3 1/2 drive as a 5 1/4 drive.i dont know how or why it is doing this? when i try to access it freezes my pc ..i then have to restart it..can anyone help me?
 
Try going into your bios and see if it is set as a 5 1/4 drive. If it is, try and set it to 3.5. What version of Windows are you using?
