Floor Jacks, lets see them

Got this beauty for Christmas. I have never owned my own jack and I was always borrowing. I love the quick pump action and the low profile.

My Jack

I love a quick pump action too, up down, up down. 😉

Oop, better add some appropriate comments about the topic at hand. Um, I own a floor jack that is older than my house. I couldn't even tell you what brand it is but it still works fine.

I could jack all day with mine. The action is so smooth, and low profile so it can squeeze into the tightest spots. Your jack looks suspiciously like my jack, but mine is red and says craftsman on it. Looks like a likely rebrand. We should get together and have a jack race. You know, to see who can get their car up the quickest.

I've got a now-discontinued all-aluminum low-profile jack from Jegs. Given my Miata's recent suspension drop I need to get a jack with a lower profile...

I think that is the one I have, can't remember. IMO, having some good jack stands is more important than having a good floor jack.

Good stands vs good jack... I'll take the good jack.

I had some pathetic jacks that either couldn't lift the car high enough onto the jack stand, or couldn't get under the car with the extending attachment needed in place. It was basically:
Step 1 - Jack up car
Step 2 - Place jack stand near the same spot.
Step 3 - Lower jack
Step 4 - Insert jack extension
Step 5 - Jack up car again
Step 6 - Extend jack stand.

Do that over and over again with 4 wheels, and you'll appreciate a good jack.

This is what I have:

Bought at Costco for $95. Well worth it.

I also have the OTC 2 ton aluminum jack...it rocks...pretty low profile. Got it with the wall stand (aluminum plate) and matching OTC jackstands.

Ah, me too!

Same here, $99 at Costco, couldn't pass it up. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but looking forward to it. My only concern is the weight. I have to carry it from my shed to the driveway. But better than the tiny old jack it's replacing that wouldn't fit under the front of the car. Will be nice to jack up the whole front of my car to put both stands under it at once.

I have a floor jack, but it sucks too much for me to post a pic about it in a brag thread. 😛

EDIT: It doesn't "suck" because it does what it was made for. It is just, er, rather inexpensive.

Same, mines a 60 dollar husky from homedepot. But it can lift 21 inches and it's 3 ton rated and so far its done the job on my expedition.

It's not the one under your spare tire that came with the car is it? 😛

I had to use that one time to put my summer tires on before i got this current....what a pain that was.

Reminds me, I need to find me one that'll fit under my car, so I can easily change for winter. Not much clearance when I tried using a friend's jack when I switched to summer tires last month so I hadto use my emergency jack in the trunk. OP's jack is a little pricey for what I'll need.

Would that be called a jack off?

I have used a couple of the crappy craftsman aluminum jacks. one made it about a year, the other about 6 months. enough of that BS and bought more substantial jacks
