Grrr, they have pissed me off with this latest stunt. I've had them for a couple of years now, only reason I got them still is they are the only provider in my area really with any sort of reliable speed. Although at one point my lines had gone bad for several months and it took them forever to finally fix them.

So I am currently being billed at $29.99 for just internet service per month. I've had their PayXpress through an EFT setup to automatically pay my bill using my bank account and routing number. I've had this set up for 2 years now with no problem. I've been getting emails every month around the 9th of the month stating that my payment was processed through the PayXpress system.

I got one yesterday actually when I was checking my email from work. So I get off work yesterday, go home, and find out I have no internet. At first I thought it was an outage or a modem problem again. I reset my network several times and get nothing. So I call in to Timewarner to find out what the fuck is wrong. The automated phone system sends me straight to the collections department after telling me I have an outstanding balance of $61.16. I thinking, "What the fuck?" at this point. I get a rep on the phone and he says that my account shows an outstanding balance for the last two months that have not been paid. I told him they have been paid and that I was receiving confirmation emails for everyone and had received one that day. He says that nothing on my account shows any payment and to turn back on service I have to pay over the phone now, which in turn has a $5 processing fee. I'm like fine and pay it.

So I check my emails and sure as shit I see all the past payment confirmations. I come into work today and decide to check both my bank account and emails. I'm aghast and what has happened. Not only have I been billed the last two months correctly at $30 a month, but I got both a $61.16 and a $68.61 (the $5 processing fee charge) all posted to my bank account. WTF?!?! So I called in again and get the billing department. The rep said I have a positive balance of $120 or some such nonsense. NO SHIT MOTHER FUCKERS YOU TRIPLE BILLED MY ASS!!!!! Well that means I don't have to worry about paying my next monthly billing cycle is the reply I get. "No bitch I want my money back and I want it back now!" After being put on hold for 25 minutes as she "checks" to see what she can do, she comes back and tells me she put in the request to refund my money and it can take up to 3 business weeks. THREE WEEKS!!! Are you fucking kidding me!?!?! You are in such a hurry to triple bill my ass, but are going to sit on my funds for 3 whole fucking weeks?

Soon as I get my money back I'm switching over to something else. Total bullshit.

Cliffs:
1) Timewarner auto EFT bill goes on the fritz after 2 years
2) I get triple billed for the past 2 months and have to pay extra fees to have my service turned on
3) I find out about being triple billed and call to get money back. They say it will take 3 weeks to refund me.
4) BULL FUCKING SHIT!

TW: sweet, interest free loan! ( note to self, target caught on, try on someone else )

i have a feeling if anarchy suddenly ruled the streets telecom companies would be the first to be firebombed

do you have a local time warner office? go there in person and raise hell, its much more effective

reason #1 why i will never ever let any company pull money out of my bank account.

i hear stories like yours all the time of some error happened and they take a lot more money than what they should have. to me its like telling a kid that the cookie jar is over there only take 2 cookies on monday. lol yea right.

nobody but me has access to withdraw funds from any of my bank accounts.

One of the many reasons I *never* let any company do an EFT and do auto withdrawals for payments. I want to be in control of the payments so they can't screw up and mess up my bank account.

Can try talking to the bank and telling them they were not authorized to take the extra money. I bet the bank can take it back faster than TW will give it back.

Notify the bank that you are contesting the charges $63 & $68 charges and explain why.

The bank should reverse the charges and credit you within a day or two.

That way; TW will have to eat the headache for their mistake

/edit
Kelemvor types faster

The $68 is a credit card (well debit card) payment. It's a pain in the ass getting that refunded which would require me cancelling the card and getting a whole new one. Which means redoing some other recurring payments using the card.

Exactly. Online bill pay rocks and I'm in total control. If I screw it up I can fix it faster.

You do not have to cancel the card

Just challenge/dispute the payment

Call TW back, ask to speak to the duty manager. Get the refund performed immediately and asked to be credited for a month's free service.

Talking to customer service reps is usually futile. I always escalate.

Which can take up to 4 weeks with my Credit Union, of which I'm responsible for up to $50 of any dispute. So no go on that one.
Do you have any other EFTs set up? Better cancel 'em now.

A simple spread sheet + online bill pay for recurring payments = peace of mind.

I don't have that constraint with EFTs. Just with debit card transactions. I've only rarely had problems with the auto bill pays I've setup in the past. This just happens to be the first major one. Usually it's because my card has expired and I forgot to update a bill with the new card. Which is my fault. This time it is definitely all Time warner's fault. I'll just stop by in person on Monday and raise hell until I get the refund pushed through that day or they cut me a check or something. I hate having to waste work time doing so because then I have to make up the time on the weekends. Hopefully going in person will be faster with better results.

*Nods*

I just don't trust anybody else paying my bills. Never have, never will.

And by that I mean physically clicking the 'Pay Now' box online. I'm aware that has the potential to get messed up too. At least I have the proof of initiating the payment should something go awry down the line.

An this ladys and gentlemen is why you NEVER do automatic bill pay. It may not have happened to you yet, but it will. NEVER give another entity or god forbid 3rd party ability to withdraw money from your account.

TW will not cut you a check - the local offices do not have that authority.

If you want your funds immediately, it is your CU or bust.

TW will only credit your bill as they already told you.
