According to this article, little can be done about them. I've had them in my vision for as long as I can remember. I don't know if they are really getting worse, or if I'm just noticing them more. They are really distracting and drive me crazy.

I've heard that certain vitamin supplements might help reduce or eliminate them.

i notice them from time to time, but its never been enough to distract me, i assumed it was normal

i imagine the urdandictionary entry on floaters is rather different, however

I have the same problem. I really notice them while in my office at work. The walls are white and they are more prevelant with light backgrounds. My Dr said there isn't much you can do. Some days are worse than others.

It's just viscous stuff floating around in the fluid of your eye. Everyone has it. There's nothing you can do except stop obsessing over it.

I've had them forever as well.

But like a piece of popcorn kernel stuck in your gums, once you notice it it's hard to leave it alone.

When I was in the service I asked the Doc. about it, that's how I found that it's the remnants of a blood vessel that ran through my eye when I was VERY VERY young.

No, nothing to be done about it.

I have one and my Dr. told me most of them occur in utero(sp) and are harmless but permanent.

I love watching them....they start to fall down, then you blink and pop! they are right back up at the top, beginning another descent :p

thanks man, i had not noticed them in 3 months or so, now that's all i can see.....yargh!!! hehe. yeah it's permanent, and there is always a huge one in my right eye, since i can remember it's been there, but i can ignore them very well, until someone points them out to me, or i am sitting down on my desk for more than 4 hrs. i start to notice them.

by the way when i was a little kid i would use them as a targeting system, i would imagine i was in an F-15 and that was what i needed to lock on my target, i got really good at it, but i must of looked so weird shifting my head in weird positions so they would move in the right direction. hehe.

I've got floaters and also have "visual static" or whatever they call it... it's annoying as hell but I've kind of just learned to let it go.

I only see them on white backgrounds or in bright situations (like being outside or during the winter when it's bright white out)
