Who here has floaters? Of the ocular kind, that is. They are more common for people who are very nearsighted.

Got them. Some are long strands, others look like globules. They can be fun to watch drift by at times.:)

If you ever get one that looks like Richard Nixon, it means you're the Chosen One.;)

I've had one close to the center of my vision since I was a kid. It's frustrating because if I try to focus on it is moves to the left.

Bits of your eye detatch from the wall of the eye.. It is literally things floating in the fluid. Excuse me, I forget the correct terms.. Lol

My mom has a huge floater, connected to the nerve so it won't fall down. It hangs right in front of her left eye, so she's nearly blind in that eye. It pains my heart to hear about her describe it. It's really sad.

No floaters, but I do have a mild case of Nystagmus(can barely read the scrolling news at the bottom of TV's due to my eyes jumping around trying follow the words).

I had floaters....then my retina became detatched

Now I have a rubber band around my eye holding my retina in place.

If you have floaters, see an eye doctor ASAP.

Hmm I have some, not really a lot, I always thought it was harmless. I've had several visits to get new prescriptions and no one has ever said anything.

Should I be concerned, are they visible when I'm getting my eyes checked?

I'll second this. Had floaters in both eyes starting when I was around ~12. Saw a specialist every year because of this. By the time I was 16, both of my retinas started to detach. All it took to fix was a quick 20 minute laser eye surgery per eye. Sure as hell beats having serious eye problems.

The picture of floaters at Wikipedia - I see those all the time, and have since I was very young. Aren't those just bits of dust on the outside of the cornea? Blinking or rubbing my eyes would always clear them away, and they look like bits of dust suspended in the air.

I do get something weird in my right eye though. When I look at something at a certain angle and distance away, I see a blurry spot, and it feels like there's something rubbing lightly against the back of my eye.

Unfortunately, it's difficult for me to reproduce it, as this spot seems to be in a slightly different place each day.

Yep, and they increased after Lasik as well. 8 months later, they aren't as big a problem anymore. The brain learns to ignore them from what I've read.

I have some but I only notice them occasionally and they haven't led to any problems.

I do as well. I only really notice the floaters if a) I am at looking something with a white background or b) thinking about it. I have spoken to my eye Dr. about it and he said that as long as its not getting worse, it shouldnt be a problem.

I only get floaters when i'm starring at a white wall or something or looking to close to a really bright light. Only other eye type things I get are associated with drinking way too much caffeine along with not sleeping enough. That gets be cool bright dots of light flying across my vision and when I look at a wall it seems so be swimming like its made of water or something (ceiling tiles are the best for that, the black dots in stuff just start swimming around).
