My boss approved my request for a simple, flash based hd camcorder thing. Are there any other products I should be looking at? I work at an animal shelter and we need a house camcorder to just grab and video tape dogs with, to be posted on our website. I personally own a kodak zi6 and think it's ok but suffers in low-light situations and our other staff camera is a canon HV30, that I like but some of the shelter personal find it hard to use. For the price range (up to $300) is the flip the best bet?

"Canon HV30 is hard to use"...speechless.

Not for me - for the folks who work in the animal shelter. Particularly ripping the video... I hate being the only person who can capture footage. I'll be involved most of the time, but sometimes they just need 15 seconds for use on their blog, and I'd rather them post it to youtube themselves

I had the Kodak zi6 but returned it and got the canon fs100. It's not hd, but the video quality was better than the zi6

I have the Flip MinoHD and it is extremely easy to use. Easy enough that I bought my parents one.

You can simply copy the videos from the device onto your computer for editing or you can use their software for the whole thing.

One thing to note though, 720p is a probably a bit much for your website. You will have to convert the resolution to something more web friendly.

Thanks for your thoughts - 720p is indeed much for the web, but I get so many requests to put our web videos on DVD, that I'd like to archive everything just in case
