Flight Upgrades

I was hoping that one of the "Worldly" ATOTers my be able to help me. I am flying to Hawaii tomorrow and I was wondering if any of you might have any tip for getting upgraded to 1st class. I am flighing on Hawaiian.

you can do it with ff miles, or if you booked your ticket through a travel agent sometimes they can gfet you upgraded by calling in a favor with the sales office, also call the airline and ask them if they a fee based upgrade, alaska airlines lets you pay $50 to upgrde to first class when you give them 24 hours notice, $50 is cheap by any standard.

Cool, 50 bones would be worth it for a 6hr flight. I guess I will give Hawaiian a call.

this is my experience with business class and first class...
i have friends who work for united. i can get companion flight coupons which will let you
stand by for first class or business class for planes with 3 classes

they are very cheap to get and i always get first class.... even that one time on 777 from Denver to Dulles, they ran out of business class...
and gave me a couch class boarding pass... then the lady says "hmmm, you're on stand by for business class, it's full, would you like to be bump up to first class?" before i could answer, the lady next to her says"yeah, as if he's going to turn down first class and go to couch"
funny, don't have to pay anything extra.
