This has always bothered me.

I'm tired of the default aircraft in the game. I've spend probably hundreds of dollars on third party aircraft always to be disappointed by something. (sometimes the aircraft will be perfect only to find out that the flight dynamics are incredibly flawed or something).. or you find out after your purchase(because they don't tell you), that the aircraft was compiled with an old fs4 SDK so your framerates go to crap when flying it.

If microsoft was to push out pay to download high-quality aircraft I would buy that shit up. I don't understand why they don't. All we got extra was that crappy acceleration expansion.

I've spent countless hours scouring through the freeware stuff as well.. It seems like freeware aircraft are always missing something.. sometimes it's the interior cockpit that's missing!.. sometimes their are no sound files.. sometimes the gauges just don't work.. sometimes the flight dynamics are shit..

Can anybody point me to something that they really like? (pay or free) I'm mostly interested in prop planes(dual or single) and small buisness jets.

I think they came out with one expansion pack with a few new planes. One was the FA-18 Hornet. It was actually pretty cool flying around San Francisco bay in a fighter jet. I was even able to land it on the GG bridge. Tried it with a 747 but it was just way too hard.

But yea, the flight sim genre is pretty much dead. High development costs but too low on financial returns.

Get X-plane. Tech support is done via the cell phone of one of the creators. TONS of quality add-on stuff. Fun stuff like aircraft carrier landings, space shuttle reentry, mars physics and tons more.

It is true enough that, with the right instruments panels, can knock off FAA certified airliner training. Best of all, it's like 40 bucks.

x-plane.org.

Kalmah have you tried Aircraft Power Pack 2 from Shockware? I just purchased it but haven't gotten a chance to play it yet (and probably won't for a while). I read some reviews on Amazon one of which went so far as saying it was the closest you could come to flying these planes without shelling out the money to fly the real thing. It includes the P51 Mustang and the Japanese Zero.

There are plenty of great high-quality add-ons for FSX. I haven't flown default planes in FS for several years. Here are some developers:

Dreamfleet

Flight 1 - They sell their own work as well as some smaller developers

FSD

Eaglesoft - Great business jets as well as pistons

PMDG - Great commercial jets

Just pick what type/model plane you want, there are all pretty much great.

Appreciate it. I'll have a look.
