Try playing the Carmen Suite on VIolin..lol..talk about fast and demanding...

That said, follow everyone's advice....accuracy at low speeds is paramount..then jsut progressively up the ante...until you get....

...just be glad you don't have to play "the flight.." on violin...

Play Chopin's "Black Keys" or Liszt's "Hungarian Rhapsody" then again Strauss's "Tritsch Tratsch Polka"

After you learn to play that fast there is not a single classical song you should struggle with.

I watched Hyperion Knight play flight of the bumblebee, I was blown away. I don't know if you guys know who he is, but he's pretty big in the NY music scene. The guy is incredible.

I'm practicing it on trombone. Think it's hard on violin or trumpet, then try using just one slide!

And you do have to practice it a lot to be able to play fast, though it should be significantly easier on piano than other instruments, especially brass. I know a few people in high school who can play it on piano pretty well, but no one that can play it at a high tempo on any other instrument, other than my trombone teacher.

practice it slowly so none of the notes are wrong with a metronome.
increase it a tick at a time until you feel comfortable at the next setting and move on in this fashion.

it takes a lot of practice, it will not come overnight.

I worked on this for a couple of weeks in high school on my trumpet. I could play it at full speed until the first bridge, when it started switched to fscked up keys and my fingers had trouble keeping up.

ah, those were the days...my ex was a pretty top-notch pianist, winning comps here and there, but I remember the stress she put on herself when tests and comps came around.

As typical as it is with Chinese people, I still wish I had started at the piano earlier in my childhood, as I had talent for it, but I was too old when I started and had other things on my mind.

Good luck OP :)

make Sergei proud and practice.

Sergei, who? You mean Rimsky-Korsakov?

Rach dumbass:p

Rimsky-Korsakov's first name was Nikolai :D

yeah...and Rachmaninoff's first name was Sergei...wow..you are dense:p

Thanks Goose for backing me up. While Rimsky Korsakov wrote the original, Rachmaninoff transcribed it to piano.
