I was flying home from Denver yestarday happy to be on a United 777. I noticed a flight attendant (male) wearing a red "I Love Jesus" ID holder around his neck. Didn't really bother me but I wonder how UAL's management feels about this. I mean if I were working the same flight proudly displaying "Proud to be an Atheist" around my neck how would people feel? I feel compelled to write a letter. Any comments?

Contact any ACLU member and see if you can get this "crazy" attendant fired and a court ruling
that blocks anyone else in the future from visually insulting you 🙂

I guarantee the ACLU would defend his right to wear it, although they probably would not file suit on his behalf because the company can tell him what he can and can't wear on the job.

It's the American Civil Liberties Union, not the American We Hate Religion Union. They stand up for everyone's civil liberties, whether they agree with their beliefs or not.

I think your sarcasm meter is broke there friend 🙂

But I really doubt you would find the ACLU defending the right of the attendant to wear
the ID holder but rather the right of the viewer to not be visually insulted.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic here... because you're basically reiterating your first post... but they really wouldn't side with the "visually insulted." They have defended the rights of a teacher to wear a cross in a public school.

I would not complain but write a letter and ask that since you saw someone wear "I love Jesus" pin, do they also allow atheist, muslims, etc... to wear pin's or other items? Only fair.

Live and let live.

If only more religious people felt this way... 🙂

Bah, if only both sides would adobt this. Search for "religion" and see how many non-religious go by this live and let live. I think religious and non-religious people alike just need to grow the fvck up and leave everyone else alone. It's crazy how the world really does act like its run by fvcking children, most of it over the most ignorant, trivial things. People are starving to death, my grandmother along with millions of others has cancer, and so many other more pressing issues are at hand, and yet all we hear are people b!tching because some flight attendant wore an ID holder saying how much he loves Jesus or trying to tell people who they should fvck and everything else. Grow up.

Fair and realistic are two drastically different things. Can you imagine a "White Day Parade"? Or a WAACP organization? Another poster said it best in that the bottom line for the airline in question is the comfort of their customers. If no or only a few customers are offended by the  jesus thingie, it's ok by them.

Edit: before anyone takes offense (and I'm sure someone will) I don't think a WAACP or white day parade is necessary or that minorities don't have it hard enough as is. I was just making a literal comparison.

Who knows. Maybe some people who don't believe in a god are proud to defy years of religious oppression?

Doesn't matter. If someone states they believe in Jesus, that means they clearly don't believe in any other religion (including Atheism). Ergo, an Atheist should have equal rights in that they can show how they doesn't believe in any other religion as well.

love the english skillz you kids are picking up in school 🙂

also, nice to see you totally missed my point.

I am assuming you are an atheist given your defense of their "belief" and thus I must ask have you been oppressed?

If I did not believe in anything then I certainly would not be "proud" of it, furthermore since when did "proud" to be anything come into the discussion? this guy was wearing an "I love Jesus" pin, WTF kind of thing can an atheist love if they do not believe in a god? should they then be allowed to wear a pin that says "I love nothing"....I am sure they can if they wish but I doubt their customers would appreciate it 🙂 please enlighten me.
